Interesting-- I was wondering particularly about Beethoven's Ninth, which, like Eva, is a piece people obsess over. It has been recorded a billion times and everyone seems to have their own favorites and strongly-held opinions. There is a little information about Alexander Rahbari and the BRTN P...

Reichu, you amaze me. Thank you.

I've been wondering about the specific recordings used in the show-- what conductors and orchestras recorded the versions used in Eva? Do the liner notes to the OSTs or ending credits to the show/films list them?

[MUSIC] Classical music in Eva

I'm trying to compile a list of all uses of classical music (compositions by Bach, Beethoven, etc-- not original music by Shiro) in the Eva TV and films and where they appear in the show and on the various OSTs. Are there any existing resources on this before I start popping in my discs?...

1) Shirou has borrowed melodies like a mofo throughout his career. There's lots of examples from other shows Shirou did soundtrack for: Kare Kano (melodies from such classical pieces as Borodin's Prince Igor), Re: Cutie Honey (Santa Esmeralda's "Don't let me be ...

Let me revise my statement: I guarantee you that, if "Background Music II" and "Magnificent Seven" consisted only of the samples I posted, any court of law in the united states with the least bit of competence would find the first piece derivative of the latter. No, they would j...

And: No volunteers for fetching time stamps? I've started doing this myself, but I wouldn't mind if someone helped share the burden. I'd say don't waste your time, Reichu. Anyone THAT interested in some comment on the Explanation can just look at the wiki page. What on Earth was the...

in the time you guys spent discussing this you could have started the Mari page and had ten edits if anyone had a concern. I don't see why you guys are bothering with the forum so much for the wiki work.

Googling I see that the Mare Tranquillitatis on the Moon was the site of the first lunar landing by mankind, on the Apollo 11. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mare_Tranquillitatis Speaking of Explanation 1.01 in general, it's gotta be the most monumentally pointless effort by Anno and his team in t...

The two columns of text suggest it's one of the books of the Bible to me.

Old plays and books of poetry often have two columns, most famously the First Folio of Shakespeare and its reprints.

Re: Bach's Original "Komm, susser Tod"

Just to clear things up, Bach's music is in the public domain, but a modern RECORDING of it is copyrighted, in this case by the Missouri All-State Orchestra. True. Posting a whole MP3 of a song is not fair use. Fair use could be using a 30-second clip when in the context of criticism or review....

Re: Bach's Original "Komm, susser Tod"

Well, I'm assuming this mp3 is okay to post here because it's classical, and thus public domain, right? <snip> ALL that would be considered intellectual property before the 20th century is in the public domain. And even if this was not in the public domain, this would probably be considered...

Must love clones

Elements of Rei's story are similar to parts of Apollo's Song by the great Osamu Tezuka. Basically, falling in love with a woman who keeps getting killed and re-cloned.

Anyone know other sci-fi novels, movies, comics etc that feature clones and love?

P.S. Does anyone think Kaji is gonna die different in this series. Or at all? Or will the mystery face be revealed. NOTE: It was Pen-Pen. Maybe then he'll serve a purpose to the show. Some more Kaji action would be welcome, but is there enough time to squeeze him in? there's only 180 minute...

From Anno's Rebuild statement:

"I have set up a production company and studio, and it is in this new setting that we will start again. Without looking back, without admiration for the circumstances, we aim to walk towards the future."
