Use photoshop and give each colour block its own layer. this way you can add gradients or shading and change colour levels etc really easily without messing with the rest of your work. just one area at a time.

I have to agree as well, after discussing this for a couple of pages I don't think we are going to come to a consensus at the moment, and it is best to leave it at that rather than just using what people think is 'most likely'. Hopefully rebuild will give us more info on this subject but...

I would like to use this thread to put together a model of how the dummy system works to eventually be added to the wiki. There have been plenty of wild theories in the past, but i believe with the proper discussion and inspection of the evidence we can come to a consensus on how this system works. ...
