Re: Bringing Evangelion to America
Finished watching all three parts and wow. Really insightful and interesting stuff. I think seeing your documentary really put into perspective for me just how much time and thought gets put into even the smallest changes in the dubbing process. Also just hearing from the original English voice cast...

I'm not sure what the licensing issues are on 3.33 are though since it seems to be the only one to not get a physical release from Gkids yet. Hopefully one day though.

Re: Eva or Bebop: If You had To Choose
I actually saw Bebop first and was the first anime I actually really got into. It's an amazing show but Evangelion's characters and themes have always resonated with me more. In a way watching a fantastic movie or show is kind of like a curse because once you get that high nothing else really does i...

Re: A Latecomer's Reaction to NGE + EoE
Second, Kaworu . When Shinji killed him, I thought three things: one, I don’t really care about this character who I met 20 minutes ago just because he said some nice things to Shinji (and made him confused about his sexuality to boot); two, if Shinji is going to have a final mental breakdown from ...

Re: Do you still consider Evangelion to be a deconstruction?
I agree with @Joseki in the sense that culturally Evangelion has evolved into something very different from when it came out as the show is in it of itself a massively influential work in the mecha genre and adheres to a lot of similar tropes but uses them to delve into really interesting philosophi...

Re: Do you still consider Evangelion to be a deconstruction?
I think that Evangelion offers commentary on it's medium and existentialist concepts in relation to loneliness and the search for purpose in life by using it's science fiction premise to explore the psychology of it's characters. I don't believe that the show was intended as one elaborate middle fin...

COnsidering how obsessed people are with social media, worshiping online content creators, all the money spent online gambling and onlyfans/porn, loot boxes and gatcha games, higher suicide rates etc. I would say a story that says escapism is bad and where the main character chooses reality over es...

Re: I got it! I GOT IT ALL!
Well I am lost on what you are referring to by "Classified Informations" and what your theory is trying to say really. I don't believe that EoE is a retelling of episodes 25-26 nor do believe that are not fundamentally similar many ways. I think that the more apt way to put it is that EoE ...

Re: If you're not a fan of the first move, watch the second before calling it quits.
I agree, 2.22 was definitely the point where I became really invested in the series. I was always going to watch the rebuild movies since I love the original run + EoE. 1.11 was solid, but with it following the first 6 episodes of the series so closely it didn't leave as much of an impact as the oth...

Re: Ayanami Rei's mental state
I personally believe that Rei is not emotionless or lacking emotion but rather the reason why Rei seems apathetic and stoic throughout the show is to highlight her social isolation and her inability to form meaningful connections to the other people in her life paralleled to Shinji who also struggle...

Re: Renting a movie theater to watch End of Evangelion
This to me would be a dream come true. I remember going to the movies with my family after having seen EoE and just thinking about watching it on that scale, it really is like an event to actually be in a theater with complete immersion. I hope I can get the opportunity eventually, so awesome!

Hello everyone! My name is Diego, I joined because I love Evangelion, the themes, characters, philosophy, and overall aesthetics. It is probably the single show that has had the most impact on my life and means a lot to me personally and wanted to interact with the community. I first watched the ori...
