I think looking way too much into stuff that isn't there / giving Anno too much credit. It's exactly how the movies presented it: the Rebuilds are a loop of the TV series. You can interpret your own meaning behind it, but it's made very clear what happened.

I think this may have at least partially been replaced with the cello scene. Shinji is extremely talented, but he doesn't see himself as good at all, and he doesn't use his talent to connect to others.

I got sent the replacement art cards today without filling out the form, so it seems like they're sending them out to everybody.

I believe it was probably the intention at the time the episode was made that Rei I was the soul inside Unit-00, but several rewrites ended up happening, and things changed, so they never followed up on that setup.

I guess you can interpret it that way if you want, but I doubt that was the intention given the extremely loose connection. It's a stretch.

Personally, I think some things just don't work as a stage play. These effects are impressive from a technical standpoint, but they're a bit too much if you know what I mean. They take me out of it instead of help me to be immersed.

I'd call it commercial art. As in art created to sell a product and generate profit. Really though, it doesn't matter what words are used to define it. Whether you call it "high art" or "low art" doesn't change how people feel about it.

I feel like the lyrics could also fit Rei too. It's kind of a major theme in Eva that all three of them are going through the same problems.

I was part-joking, but the ADV dub is my preferred way to watch the show.
