Re: What the hell is the book of life?
When I watched the movie I just assumed Kaworu was being metaphorically flowery, but people here seem to refer to it as something with actual narrative significance. What is it and what exactly are the implications of your name being in it? This is probably a rough idea. Usually God is who writes n...

Re: Where do we go from here?
The chance for an american made live action Evangelion movie/show not being a shit show is 0 to nothing but I thought a lot about it recently how could be good. So recently I watched the netflix big hit show Narcos for the first time. That show is a US made product but with a mostly latin american ...

Is Mari Satan?
First, in asking if and thinking about Mari is Satan I'm not claiming she is evil nor saying she is good, this is not a morality statement. This also isn't related to shipping of characters, Mari is the devil because you wanted one character to end up with another and didn't. This is in the context ...

Re: The EoE and RoE relationship, and other questions.
Gendo says that their senses can not perceive the anti universe. So the LCL and (maybe the view screen tech as well) is giving form to a virtual environment that can be perceived. So importantly the memories being seen by them are not a function of the anti universe or golgotha object but the LCL. W...

Re: The EoE and RoE relationship, and other questions.
Not sure I can back this up but I don't think it is ever "rewinding" time it is "neon genesis" creating a new beginning a new world. It could be that "neon genesis" re-creates a single world like in star trek with the genesis device https://youtu.be/52XlyMbxxh8?t=30 . I...

Re: Rambling about Yui, the anti-universe, deicides, and plug depths...
I agree that from what we are told Yui was in the Golgotha object but whatever Yui did was part of her plan so I don't think she was trapped or anything like that. Also the implication of Yui being in the Golgotha object is that she is or was god. Gendo's plan :emogendo: is definitely to be together...

Re: The Last Train Station Scene
It’s pretty explicitly stated that this isn’t a new “cycle” though. E.g. Shinji specifically not rewinding time (which… may or may not be why the cycles exist in the first place, Shinji choosing to rewind time during every prior Instrumentality), the same Earth shown to be un-fucked, the dead presu...

Re: Where do we go from here?
Perhaps so, I've just been dwelling on that one sort of proposed meaning because I've heard so much about it as of late and It really seemed to dissatisfy me that I personally couldn't find meaning in my own conclusions. I would not worry that much about it. Personally I enjoy first trying to just ...

Re: The Last Train Station Scene
There’s definitely no evidence to suggest that any memory erasure is going on for anyone. I'm not sure with any of this you can have direct evidence right now just more strangeness that could be something or is all nothing and so kind of interesting to think about. Seems when characters are shown o...

Re: Why Shinji and Mari DID NOT end up as a couple: Explained
I wonder which honorifics he used with his watermelons Not sure what the honorifics for watermelons would be but I imagine someone could make a big thread on all the honorifics and how people referrer to each other or their fathers in Thrice Upon a Time. In the tv series Kaji I think only used less...

Re: Where do we go from here?
Try not to worry too much. Evangelion makes too much money for the IP to be abandoned entirely. I get this, Evangelion will persist and withstand the test of time, It has already made its mark as something immovable, but is our constant attention to Evangelion just proving we don't actively underst...

Re: Why Shinji and Mari DID NOT end up as a couple: Explained
In fact, Shinji calls Rei as Ayanami. Calling someone by her last nane is relatively formal too. That said, we don't know how Shinji calls Mari in the train scene. We just see that Shinji acts pretty close to Mari. PS: Also, Kaji calls Misato as Katsuragi-san in their goodbye. So, the appends don't...

Re: The possible meta-commentary of Asuka's NTE backstory
You mean the same way as Rei, Kaworu or manga Asuka, who are these universally hated figures for not being born naturally? As Space Sweeper said, it doesn't detract from her character in any way, shape or form. Well, okay, maybe not that less than human. They can still be considered human beings. A...

Re: The possible meta-commentary of Asuka's NTE backstory
This is something that I don't think I've seen brought up yet, and it's something that I never really thought of until now, but do you think Asuka's backstory of being a clone of an "original Asuka" is supposed to be metatextual commentary on the fact that (out of universe) she is a "...

Re: The Last Train Station Scene
One theory is that a long time has passed until Mari was able to find Shinji, but this wasn't noticeable in the anti-universe. That would be the reason why the society is rebuild when he returns. That said, I admit that theory still has some plotholes. Besides the "just in time" of mari T...

Re: Why is Rei holding a doll at the end of NTE 3.0 + 1.0?
With the name on the doll as opposed to just holding a baby I really think the only way to read that is the two are linked. I can't speak with any certainty but in the tv series the memories were copied from clone to clone. However Rei made a point of how she knew it wasn't her memories and the visu...

Re: The Last Train Station Scene
I think what is the "real world" in some sense doesn't matter because they can all be just as real but for the characters for them the real world is to be with all of the other people they have met and been with on the journey of the films like the people Shinji met in the village the crew...

Re: The Last Train Station Scene
One thing I was hoping to see there (since I don't have it either) is what the point is. Why is it important that Mari and Shinji are in the minus universe still? What does it represent? Meta-fictionally, it is a lot of good data about Mari and what she represents to Shinji, don't get me wrong. I t...

Re: The Last Train Station Scene
Mari is taking Shinji back because she was the one who was there to rescue him. Since they already put out an extra comic and if they put out more I think we are going to learn more about who Mari really is. If they ever get into how Shinji or Mari are able to move around in a quantum uncertain stat...

Re: The origin of the Evangelions and their souls
I wouldn't say the soul stuff is irrelevant but it is, Mankinds Ultimate Multipurpose Humanoid Decisive Weapon. They got some Ultramans and now can fight with them or use them to rewrite the rules of the world.
