The version I watched was Misato saying "pat on the shoulder". Similar concept though as it has to do with the need for acceptance
EDIT: just want to add that pat on head and pat on shoulder have completely different meanings so it's interesting to think about

Re: Last Movie You Watched
Eternals (2021) Seems like a mix between Terence Mallick and Puella Magi Madoka Magica. The plot is different from the original Jack Kirby version as well as the Neil Gaiman adaptation, and it has its own unique style, which makes it interesting to watch. What is confusing is that it tries to add i...

Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now
I caught "The Boy and the Heron" in IMAX and quite liked it. Felt very immersive and honestly as more people watch this I'll be curious to see what people make of this thematically. To me is seemed like this movie had a lot of weird sexual subtext. Like I had been jokingly calling this mo...

Re: Gendo and Shinji Being Alike
Yeah I agree there are big differences. Also want to add the fact that in thrice upon a time, Gendo has completely lost his eyes - therefore completely dissociated with reality. There's also a reddit post about him having sanpaku eyes in the series (probably not relevant): https://www.reddit.com/r/e...

Re: Shinji creates a new world in the ending of Evangelion 3.0+1.0?
In other words, I've seen some take issue with the fact that a narrative pre-occupied with the conflict of not running away then concludes that way ... but I find it hard to believe such a pointed decision was made in error. Or at least, I don't believe it's a contradiction. Yeah I think it could b...

Re: Gendo and Shinji Being Alike
Please elaborate~ I'm being a bit pedantic, but, it's a sort of fallacy of perspective. Music is part of the outside world and is made by others. Engaging with it as self-isolation alone requires actively ignoring what part of listening to music is an engagement with those outside yourself and what...

Re: Last Movie You Watched
Maestro (2023) I really think this movie should be acknowledged as just focusing on Leonard Bernstein and his wife Felicia Montealegre as I think many people go into it with the expectation that it would be about his musical career. It evocatively depicts how their relationship develops, as it flic...

If me..... I like her because she is very loving and Wise and much more....But I like her the most because she is basically the Christ Figure when I actually understand her and try interpret the show with the bible it's very beautiful not only for her like for Asuka, Shinji, Gendo and more....it wa...

The Holdovers (2023) Perhaps one of the few feel-good Christmas movies that deserves some actual praise for delivering sentimental impact without being corny. The story revolves around an irascible teacher at a boarding school who has to look after students who have to live at school during the Chr...

I drew Shinji and Asuka in the Petit Eva Art Style! I thought it would be cute and I am really proud of this :> I still have lots to practice as it isn't perfect but I hope to master this style! https://f2.toyhou.se/file/f2-toyhou-se/images/74482676_HevhjNKSDJdL0ej.png haha very sweet

Re: The Script for Rei and Kaworu at the Train Scene
Nuke definitely translated to the most accurate translation, but I mean we shouldn't ignore the confusing fact that the final product clearly derails from the contents of the script. The script mentions "multiple couples of men and women" but in the final scene, Rei and Kaworu are the only...

haha true. The Killer is more in the spirit of what he does best. Mank was a passion project but not entirely interesting. Looking forward to his future Netflix projects.

Re: Use of Religious Imagery in Rebuilds
Correct me if I am wrong (my memory isnt the best), but I remember reading an interview about the use of christian symbolism in NGE and the reply by Anno being that it was just for the cool factor and that if they knew it was going to be popular in the west they wouldnt use it as much. This reducti...

The Killer (2023) This movie by David Fincher with a script penned by the writer of Se7en, Andrew Kevin Walker, is an adaption of a French graphic novel and recently released on Netflix. I definitely think the character could have been a bit more developed and nuanced rather than a boring stone-col...

Hmm yeah the glasses are different in some instances and I never really thought that the orange tint had any significance until now. Interesting observation

Re: NTE's interpretation of the characters
I do believe that at the centre of forum discussions on NTE, the divisions mostly relate to the characters of Asuka and Mari. The majority of NTE 1 and 2 remained somewhat faithful to NGE, but I think the character story arcs for Asuka and Mari are the most unique in the NTE rebuild series, in that ...

Re: Whats next for evangelion?
I had a relative going to a book fair and finding an Asuka cosplayer (seems weird). It seems Evangelion's legacy will forever live on through cosplay and other products. Also Evangelion thrice upon a time began screening in cinemas in the UK today, which I might check out. At this point the market i...
