Re: Primary Sources - Various Inquiries

@pwhodges Replied by PM with sincere thanks. I have slightly altered the title to avoid cluttering up the forum with threads - I do have another question, if it's quite all right. Has anyone ever scanned the liner notes from the original GAINAX VHS release? Genesis 0:1-0:0? I am not sure if they are...

Primary Sources - Various Inquiries

I wonder if anyone could possibly help me trace a text transcription of the ADV subtitles? Of course they are imperfect, as all subtitles are, but as the first 'official' form used in the West as I understand it, they will be a useful resource. Unfortunately illness has prevented me from making grea...

Re: ''Off to Sea'' from ''Sally Forth'' (Red Cross Book)

Edit - I ought, I think, have used the properly polite and deferential form Miyamura Yuuko-san . I apologise most sincerely - I had no desire to be disrespectful and the bumptious foreign outsider is rightly deplored in any culture, especially, I imagine, in one as ancient, beautiful and formal as t...

''Off to Sea'' from ''Sally Forth'' (Red Cross Book)

In the Seiyuu-retrospective section of the EofE Red Cross Book, in her retrospective, Miyamura Yuuko alludes to a song called ''Off to Sea'' derived from a work called ''Sally Forth'' (I regret my study of the language is in its infancy, these are the translations provided by the English version off...

Re: Where to begin?

So, are you now ready to start talking about it here as well, or do you need a wind-down first? An interesting question with two answers. I want to watch it at least twice more before making an ass of myself by making howlers on a subject I am a complete beginner at! There's also a part of me that ...

Re: Where to begin?

I have just finished the series and the two films (Death/Rebirth and End of Evangelion). Surreal, beautiful and horrible, often all three at the same time. More than a few tears on my part.

Re: FML general thread [8]

Scottish schools are, perhaps, to close next week. I have heard a rumour (an friend of mine works at the Scottish office of a national UK political party) that the devolved parliament will soon follow. Unfortunately, even here ''up the mulga'', if you like, in the Highlands, there is some panic buyi...

Re: [Music] Songs on repeat

Not really songs, but - https://youtu.be/kVzjh4XGrZ0 I have (metaphorically) worn the sprockets away from this on tape (my grandfather's), then on CD and now with the Internet. Especially on crowded buses and trains. Much more beautiful and orderly than the world is. One of my great failings is that...

Mystery solved! It's the stand that came limited edition with the 2003 Soul of Chogokin EVA-00. I bought a second one today from Hong Kong.

Tracing merch.

I managed to find this interesting little perspex sign on eBay - the seller got it in Birmingham's Chinatown, he was a Chinese gentleman. I wonder if anyone has ever seen anything like it? I have searched Google but drawn a blank. https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/wtkAAOSw8S9eQwcc/s-l1600.jpg

Re: Where to begin?

Ten episodes in and counting - this is fascinating, vastly superior to anything I have seen previously. I have already filled a small notebook with allegories and dense speculation! Please no spoilers, but my thanks once again - at present, Sandalphon notes. Sandalphon is, according to the 'Dictiona...

Re: Official "Hello/Goodbye" Thread!

Many thanks for a warm and welcoming beginning! My name is Patrick Gray, I am only a complete beginner - so far, Evangelion is fascinating, the intellectual level is very high indeed. I am trying to avoid spoilers, but I have several suspicions I look forward to being confirmed... I am currently wor...

@ Mr. Tines - warm thanks for the username change, it was simply too personal. I have copied down the information you have given, extremely useful. @ pwhodges - many thanks for much practical advice! I have the NetFlix version at present. @kuribo-04 - the condolences are deeply touching, thank you. ...

Re: Where to begin?

Thank you so much. By the by, before I rack up too many posts, may I change my username? I can just imagine Holly hitting me for being so sentimental  , she hated memorials.

I suggest shinseikievangelion1995 - stylised romanisation plus a meaningful date.

Re: Where to begin?

Thank you, Mr. Hodges, most sincerely - I have seen advertisements for handsome, expensive sets of D.V.D.s (Platinum Edition, I think). If I enjoy Netflix, are these useful future investments?

Where to begin?

Hello, Many thanks for letting me register. I am afraid I lost my sister Holly at only twenty-two in December, on the 19th. She loved Japanese anime and manga and always encouraged me to watch Neon Genesis Evangelion as a programme which was very deep and had a lot of interesting psychological and e...
