Re: Instrumentality and space travel

Ah, I knew I overlooked a third possibility. Well, in that case, the calculations in the first part are still the ones to use, its just a different mechanism - although I am a little stuck on working out the exact mechanism. To use another analogy, inspired by AT-Fields being "the light of the ...

Re: Instrumentality and space travel

@Blockio: I think that question is pretty much unanswerable, given that EoE does not once bother to let itself be concerned with physical limitations or even realistic consequences, but my guess is that poor Moon Mission Guy gets tanged like everybody else, just for thematic reasons. Other than tha...

Re: Rei proxy's

@orcot: What makes you think she couldn't have stopped it? All indications are that she is in complete control of the process, at least from the point of the MP-Evas sprouting Rei-heads to Unit 01 emerging from her eye. Shinji gets to wish for things, but she decides how his wishes are granted. She...

Re: Rei proxy's

@Orcot: To the first part: Yes, she does have feelings, but does not express them, instead trying to rationally approach every situation. Leeloo is very much the opposite: She expressess mostly feelings, but does not seem to have higher comprehension at first. They are just presented completely dif...

Re: Rei proxy's

Given that Rei is totally detached and devoid of feeling (to the outside world), while Leeloo is just childlike, I'd just say you are seeing ghosts. Also: Both are if not gods guardian angels clonend as humans -> Rei is the progenitor of Mankind, but indeed cloned. Both appear weird Rei as a maybe a...

Re: FanFiction Requests/Recommendations/Discussion etc.

I'm looking for a post EoE fic, and for the life of me, I can't find it anymore. It featured, I believe, an ongoing war with Seele (?), who are now based in Russia. I can't really remember many plot details, besides a battle against Chinese forces near the beginning featuring a Trident (?), Asuka ge...

Re: Asuka as a genius in fanfiction

If you heaven't read it, Evangelion: Genocide is also chock-full with introspection. I'd warn you in advance, though. It might kill your drive to write, as it already does pretty much everything to perfection.

Re: Chinese 3DCG Eva film

Watching this I kinda warmed up to the idea of life action Eva again - only to realize that while it might look very good, it could never be done satisfactory.

Re: Asuka as a genius in fanfiction

@IgRAzm: I don't think there is something quite like what you are looking for. Portraying her intelligence mostly boils down to giving her skills and informing the reader that she is studying or working in Academia in some capacity in the fics I read. The only thing I can think of that somewhat tack...

Re: Fanfic Story Ideas, Mk. II

^It's been a long time since I've seen Gunbuster, but Noriko doesn't seem too different from Shinji in many ways. Where do you want to take his character? Do you aim more for a lighthearted take or a serious fic?

Re: Asuka isn't Justified

Oh, I don't want to change your mind. I was simply offering my perspective as an addition to the possible messages directed at the audience, not to contest the message directed at Shinji. ^_^ Again, you are most likely right in your interpretation (I only use a qualifier here because, well, nobody c...

Re: Asuka isn't Justified

@Shun: To add a little to Anno's intentions: When keeping in mind that he complained about the lack of mental healthcare and the attitude towards it in Japan, I can not help but think that the kitchen scene is pointing it's finger at that fact. Shinji is unable to help himself; He doesn't know what...

@PenPen4life: Regarding their mental states at the start vs. the end: I see your point. Regarding the return: Yes, that was what I was trying to say: He returns despite the pain. Him remembering his past interactions with Asuka or the current and most likely future state of their relationship is no...

Re: Asuka isn't Justified

Yeah, that is the most common read of the scene, which makes them morally equal as well since neither of them is able to control their actions, which was the argument. PenPen4Life argued that Shinji's attempt to strangle Asuka is worse than what she has ever done to him, which only holds true if he ...

Re: Asuka isn't Justified

Again, you mistake "all their issues are resolved by having a romantic partner is implausible" for an absolute rejection of the possibility (implausible =/= impossible), and that was what I tried to comment on, and frankly, that's all there is to it. You commented on that specific post, wh...

Re: CGI in the rebuild films.

Oh sure, the CGI isn't terrible, far from it; compared to something like Berserk 2016(17?), it is an outright masterpiece. I think this comes down to personal preference; I prefer the old, "grimy" look of 80s and 90s lo-fi animation to more modern, cleaner animation, whether it is CGI or n...

Re: Asuka isn't Justified

I think you misunderstood what he was trying to say. He is not commenting on whether or not they love each other or what happens to them down the line, he is simply stating that JUST having a significant other might not solve all their issues, meaning, they need other/more help then just simply star...

Re: CGI in the rebuild films.

The only scenes in EoE I can think of that clearly stuck out as CGI to me were the souls floating towards GNR (the body-shaped things, with Rei-transition guides at their side) and part of the live-action sequences. All the rest of it seems to be hand-drawn. Even if it isn't, it didn't feel that way...

Re: 3.0+1.0's Troll Potential

Perhaps instead of a Galactica ending, we get the Game of Thrones ending. ... y u do this to me? I think the GoT equivalent would look like this: Shinji -> John Snow. Gets exiled to Nerv Headquarters. Rei -> Sansa. Becomes Queen of WILLE-North Misato -> Daeneris. Goes insane and murders everybody, ...
