Re: Asuka isn't Justified

It's really hard to attribute to Shinji responsibility on this topic for a variety of reasons: - He lost his mother on a freaky accident, and immediately after his father distances himself from him; - His father effectively abandons him, and seems to attribute to him the sole responsibility to reach...

Re: Adams, Children, and the Nature of the Cycle

@Reichu sorry for the delayed response... (This reminds me, incidentally, that I really need to go Bible-shopping, but there are so many versions and my needs are so specific that it's easy to put off...) If it's for scholar purposes, I recommend NA28, the latest edition of Nestle & Aland Novum...

Re: Rei #6 and the Programmable Human

I just want to know what # Rei clone was the rather serious/Rei-looking "AU schoolgirl Ayanami" that we see in 2.0's Next Time Preview. If the Ayanami Series is too subject to the "Curse of Eva", then it may be Rei#6 (ReiQ). However, one can contemplate what would be if they're ...

Re: Rei #6 and the Programmable Human

@Reichu and @Blockio , I was riding back home today and something regarding this post suddenly crossed my mind: - Just like Rei can't see the outside of Mark.09 after Seele's program override, the other pilots can't see her inside it too. We can observe this detail when Asuka only recognizes her as...

The line is absent in the manga too (and the plug suit is replaced by his normal clothing). It might have been a late addition to Netflix version.

Re: Cruel Angel's Thesis - lyrics in instrumental section solved?

Language-wise, it's totally correct. I don't know, however, if we can trace parallels between the lyrics and the pĺot, specially in Yui's case: The composing team was not aware of the show's context, and the HIP plot was only developed by Anno and team latter in the show, so despite Yui, Seele and K...

It means something on the line of "could it be?" or "is that so?". I guess that "is it really?" is a valid one too :)

Re: Cruel Angel's Thesis - lyrics in instrumental section solved?

@UrsusArctos , what a coincidence! I also went searching for versions of CAT from other NGE albums, and found two that may give us some answers: - One sung by Megumi Ogata (Shinji's original voice-actress) with a male back-vocal which clearly sings " setameso " in a Gregorian style right ...

Re: Adams, Children, and the Nature of the Cycle

@Reichu , I was passing by an old papyri containing the epistles of Paul on my research and stumbled upon an interesting passage: " ουτως και γεγραπται εγενετο ο πρωτος ανθρωπος Αδαμ εις ψυχηνζωσαν ο εσχατος εις [πνευμα] ζωοποιουν ". It's usually translated as "and so it is written: ...

Re: Cruel Angel's Thesis - lyrics in instrumental section solved?

Gui - I found a version with far clearer singing in that section. The lyrics I posted earlier turned out to be off-base because of all the background singing overlays. The real lyrics seem to be more or less "Faria. Se ta mesmo. Faria. Oo-sei." So I tried to get this translated again onli...

Re: NGE2: First Ancestral Race and Seeds of Life

I am curious, what is the source for the idea that Lilith intentionally caused 1st Impact by going after Adam and her FoL? A link to that specific info would be great. It's told by Lilith herself in NGE2, specifically on Rei's scenario, as (wonderfully) translated by @Reichu . There's a post contai...

Re: NGE2: First Ancestral Race and Seeds of Life

First, I concur with what Reichu said about the FAR ultimately being all too human. In fact, right alongside the notion that NGE's story is the story of man itself, thus the SDSCs being the literature that would inspire world religions (evidenced by Shinji questioing the notion of fighting Angels a...

Re: Cruel Angel's Thesis - lyrics in instrumental section solved?

Fascinating discussion - thank you for setting me straight about this! I admit that I should have known better than to play with machine translators and expecting them to give proper results! I've tried some online searches with the Latin language, but I can't seem to find anything. None of the usu...

Re: Adams, Children, and the Nature of the Cycle

@Reichu , what a impressive analysis! Even though I'm still skeptic about the Adams' division you propose, this proposition regarding Mark.09 seems to account for every single point provided by NTE! And with the Eva serial numbering you propose, we hopefully will be able to validate it in 3.0+1.0. ...

Re: Would the angels have awoken and attacked regardless of the Katsuragi expedition disturbing Adam 15 years prior?

Adam had been asleep for billions of years, impaled on the Spear. She only woke up is because Seele send a bunch of people down there to yank the Spear out and perform some weird experiment, with the results of creating the 17th Angel, triggering Second Impact, and giving souls to Angels 3~16. Seco...

Re: Cruel Angel's Thesis - lyrics in instrumental section solved?

Errata corrige: fadia in Brazilian Portuguese sounds fajee-uh. Faria was actually a better guess. On the other hand, seda and sera virtually share the same pronunciation, so I'll stick to my first interpretation. That said, Faria seda mês, ou Faria tu sê? should translate into something like Would ...

Re: Mother is the First other: The Human Instrumentality Project and Lacanian Psychoanalysis

Curious, I always saw more influence of Kleinian psychodynamics in the Instrumentality. The whole "breaking of the ego boundaries" and confrontational analysis presented on episodes 25 and 26 reminded me very much of my supervised practice.

Re: Cruel Angel's Thesis - lyrics in instrumental section solved?

Ok, I've been listening to it on repeat for a few hours and it doesn't sound like anything in portuguese, at all :( The proposed phrasing "Faria. Sepa messo. Faria. Tu se." is not entirely in portuguese either: - " Faria " is the 1st and 3rd person subjective conjugation for the ...

Native brazilian-portuguese speaker here! Never heard most of these words, and even the existing ones are used in a form that doesn't make sense at all... Re: NGE2: First Ancestral Race and Seeds of Life

I'm not trying to push us into a position where we can't have an honest discussion, I'm just having a hard time reasoning out why the FAR would come into possession of the Fruit of Life and then go out of their way to not integrate it with the Fruit of Knowledge. Same here. As I said before, the he...
