Re: Kaworu is the same character as from the original series, but everyone else is different
One would hope that such a shallow, dismissive take would have been left behind by now on a space specifically about analyzing Eva, but alas. If all that theorycrafting is mere personal conjecture and reading too much into things, how does one like you explain the fact that the people who put the mo...

Re: Kaworu is the same character as from the original series, but everyone else is different
It's almost as if they are transcending fiction in a way. They're in a place where everything is possible. There's a loop happening and it's from Kaworu's perspective. He's jumping from universe to universe. And one of these could've been the original NGE universe. Or maybe not. Maybe he "visi...

Re: English Voice actors for Extra Eva characters...
Ah yes, in that case ADV most likely would have been the distributor, yes.
Unfortunately, I am not particularily versed in the wider dubbing scene, so I fear I don't have much useful input to offer on that front

Re: English Voice actors for Extra Eva characters...
It's actually very unlikely that the ADV cast would have any involvement; besides the fact that the company only exists as a shell corporation at this point, khara also demonstrably has grown tired of their nonsense

Afraid I don't remember the scene you're talking about; evil Kaworu talking to Shinji in his dreams is very much a thing in the later books tho

Re: Evangelion ANIMA (general)
Oh right, I completely forgot about the writer change. You're 100% correct. If memory serves me, Yamashita was actually the more comprehensible of the writers, I seem to recall that before his rewrite, the first part of the story was barely followable

Re: Last Movie You Watched
Gave The Sky Crawlers a watch after stumbling over it; I'd call it best described as one of the movies of all time. I'm not even sure how to describe it other than it feeling like a highly political piece made in a timeline that operates on completely different rules to our own. Gonna go watch The P...

Re: Evangelion ANIMA (general)
Eeeeyup, that's the Anima experience alright. Fwiw some of the more outlandish plot points seem to be taken pretty directly from early drafts of NGE, various plot points that didn't make it into the show (which is likely also where some of its more peculiar parallels with NTE come from, if you bothe...

Re: Kaji's sacrifice was inside Mark.06
I've always operated under the assumption that Kaji used the carrier to get himself and the spear to 01 and/or 06, to do whatever it was that was necessary to stop N3I. As Konja says, the details are not entirely clear, but there is an implied chronology; as demonstrated by the end of Ha and the acc...

Re: Anime series or Rebuild?
Judging by your use of it, I do not believe you know, what the term "objectively" actually implies. What you mean to say is that you, subjectively, did not enjoy them; the question aside if there even is such a thing as objective quality of a piece of artwork, your hatred seems to stem ent...

Re: Anime series or Rebuild?
were either made just to make more money for Anno through merchandising. A strawman that is easily disproven by simply comparing the density of merch made for NGE compared to the merch made for NTE; the former had orders of mangitude more. Either both have artistic vision, or both are a cheap cashg...

Re: ENTERTAINMENT STRUCTURES
That's a very broad question that is the topic of continued professional debate and many back and forth arguments even in academic circles; but broadly speaking, the deciding factor is that you need something that naturally integrates with the core point of the physical environment in a way that doe...

Zettai Live was kind of flopping around ineffectively with many of its plot elements, yeah.

^ that.
Also Dawn, which is probably the most profitable one by "virtue" of being a gacha, was released in a slump of no information or notable hype, so I don't think there is much to worry about with regards to hype cycles

Re: Mari Clone Theory
Not at all unlikely, actually! It's almost certainly not a coincidence that Mari's last name also ends in -nami, so even if there wasn't a full series of clones (which for the record may still be - we never saw who or what served as the control interface of the Mk.07s!), I'd call it a fairly well-fo...

Re: Breaking the American Mecha Curse
It has the right idea, but takes some of the conclusions a lot farther than they like to be stretched, I feel; it also broad strokes a number of things to better fit into a nice and clean binary. There is definitely an argument to be had about how specifically action fiction reflects on a culture's ...

Re: The Last Train Station Scene
Also that, yes. Omitting detail on daraway shots is the singular most common practice in artwork of any kind, and as something moves away from the camera, that naturally happens at some point.
