Re: Why didn't Misato (or anyone) tell Shinji anything in 3.0?

They sent Sakura. Okay, my two cents I'm not happy to throw, but whatever. The problem which is addressed in this thread was encountered long time ago by the generation of our grandfathers. They were fighting a total war of attrition and they were constantly pushed to report what they are doing now ...

Re: Only in Japan...

Magical before. I like that phrase. Well I'd like to share some hypothesis, because reasons. There is such an old, bitter joke from the Midwar period, when two Ukrainians chat on a street of Lviv. "Y'know, but wheat roll is good." "How can you know?" "My uncle saw a Pole eat...

Re: Release Date: June 27, 2020

I wouldn't phrase it that harshly seems oddly alarming over nothing. I got triggered. My bad. I got, because there are people in my country, somewhat influential, who attempt to copy the American progressiveness as-is, without trace of hesitation or reflection on how it could possibly work in the P...

Re: Release Date: June 27, 2020

She’s also straight up racist. I never watched the film but her main criticism of Disney+’s Lady and the Tramp remake was that they hired Tessa Thompson to voice Lady and now the story was ruined for being “too ethnic”. Like I’m sure the movie wasn’t good but casting a black woman to voice an anima...

Agreeing with silvermoonlight mostly, I feel the need to oppose her here: Also, if you're writing this purely for shock, then your writing it for the wrong reasons and in doing so you could trigger a real-life victim reading it even more so if it's handled insensitively. - cause being an artist, you...

Re: FML general thread [8]

Putin is a tzar-emperor de facto who will rule his state and nation 'till his last day in this world. All the democratic forms of government are more or less mock-ups in Russia, because imperial leadership is what the common Russians do expect and accept. They simply want their preciousss empire and...

Looks like someone got used to personal liberty and bellyful existence. Keep it up and Mars will become Chinese colony, with Musk's head tucked on a pike. Once ago we had such proverb here, saying roughly that " the future of the state depends on the upbringing of the youth ". Maybe that's...

Re: Stuff that you would like to see in Evangelion 3.0+1.0

Ehh, I'm not quite sure even Kaworu himself knows what does he want. As far as my opinion can go, he simply has no ego, so his id and superego are ying-yanging all the show long, until his deliberate harakiri. I can see his superego working as he takes the choker from Shinji, effectively atoning him...

Re: Gendo's silent line: new theory

I, for one, am still 100% on the “It doesn’t matter/The mystery is the point” camp Yeah, that's probably right; the mood of the moment is what Anno pursued, while delivering the line could destroy it. I couldn't agree more. But for the sake of chasing the rabbit - guys, you combine like a horse uph...

Re: Stuff that you would like to see in Evangelion 3.0+1.0

Okay, so let's say the Impact Portal is actually a bridge to an alternative timeline, where PenPen took over Wunder from her core and successfuly conducted Instrumentality of his kind. Upon learning the horror, NERV and WILLE could unite their forces to fight The Penguin, with Batman saving the day....

Re: Will the good guys kill Gendo? [split]

Wille is (not) made of killers. HM.

Just wanted to say that Misato couldn't kill Shinji, specifically. Gendo could make the difference, especially if Shinji's life would be at stake again. He knows this, of course; otherwise he wouldn't be Gendo. (My train of thoughts kinda derailed here; crap.)

Re: The idea of a timeloop

Meme? In popular culture? I think it's a classical trope from the sci-fi genre. I know it mostly from Philip K. Dick's stories, but Stanisław Lem played with it (to get humorous effects) as well.

It's probably as old as the Einstein's work.

Re: Analysis: Um, Kaworu Is Good Actually

I am really curious is your limb off, I mean, this is Anno's creation after all, but still. In my opinion in Q you have Kaworu's motivations and intentions shoved right into your face. Look carefully at his place at NERV and employ your analytical superpowers to tell me what you can read from it. Be...

Re: The idea of a timeloop

With respect to the Reichu's work, which I still can somehow swallow if it happens to be proper decyphering of Annno's idea... NO. Because then it's quite obvious that tesseract intercepted in Q is coming from the future. If so, it opens a horrendous possibilty that we have two Shinjis in the movies...
