There's a reason the movies haven't introduced the 11th Angel yet....

Re: Shin Ultraman

Apple CEO Tim Cook posted a tweet showing he met with Shinji Higuchi recently. He specifically mentions SHIN ULTRAMAN. Honestly, Cook’s willingness to mention the film makes me think Apple TV+ might have already worked out a deal with Toho to stream the film (and other Toho project) outside Japan. h...

Re: Shin Eva - Official Social Media

Makes sense they'd put out an announcement like that. Khara has completely severed their ties with the old company and are at odds with them but because Neon Genesis Evangelion is still (and forever) what Gainax is known for in the general publics eyes all news articles & discussions about what ...

Re: Shin Ultraman

Apparently Shinji Higuchi revealed Shin Ultraman has ALREADY wrapped filming and is now entering post-production. I'm curious to see what a Hideaki Anno script directed by someone else will feel like. I guess Anno's next major involvement in the film will be in tightening the edit. https://twitter.c...

Re: Shin Eva - Official Social Media

^ FINAL is the first of the Rebuild films to be distributed by Toho & Toei, the two big film companies in Japan. The previous three were mostly independent productions so the way they were marketed was mostly however Khara saw fit. If Anno wanted a 90 second trailer to be CG footage of a piano l...

Re: Godzilla & Kaiju General!

Is the delay that surprising? Warner Brothers know they have a financial bomb on their hands. Now WB's move of DUNE: VOL 1 from Thanksgiving 2020 to Christmas 2020 makes much more sense. Had the movie stuck with its March release date it would have had to compete against a new Pixar movie, the seque...

Re: Shin Eva - Official Social Media

The Evangelion twitter account has retweeted a few things from that anime train movie recently - Shinkalion . Seeing as that series actually had an appearance by Shinji & some of the Eva cast for an episode and the film comes out a choice date of December 27th (thank you Google) I wouldn't be sh...

Martin Scorsese's THE IRISHMAN is perfect!

If it's playing near you in a theater try to catch it on a big screen before the film premieres on Netflix on November 27th. It's an experience worth the theatrical viewing!

Anno: "Once it’s over, I hope other creators will do other Eva. Obviously, because I want them to be appealing works, it won’t be without specific conditions, but I will not confine them to what my works have established. Just like Gundam, which keeps continuously supporting the animation world...

I love that Unit 02 has taken a severe beaten and over the course of the films has become barely recognizable.

Re: [Film] The Trailers & Upcoming Films Thread

I will be genuinely surprised if the Netflix COWBOY BEBOP show actually happens now. Production has been halted for 7 to 9 months as John Cho has suffered a knee injury. The costs that will be needed to assure the hundreds of crew and actors who have signed contracts to work on the show for the next...

Re: Minor news about Shin Evangelion: 3.0+1.0

You just got a new Twitter follower! So we can expect a movie that will go right up to and maybe a little over 2 hours but not by much (I'd guess a runtime with credits that's between 110 to 125 minutes, easily making it the longest theatrical Eva film) and I also figured Khara may be open to Eva st...

Re: Translation – 10 Years of Khara, interview with Hideaki Anno

Fascinating interview that confirms a lot of things I've suspected since the very beginning. Namely that the Rebuilds initially started off as a much simpler project ( merely a digital remaster of the show simple ) to raise capital that could have been outsourced to other companies but then due to a...

Re: Shin Eva - Official Social Media

The biggest difference in announcements between this film and the last three is unlike before this film is being distributed by Toho & Toei. This film is a huge part of their annual calendar. Their involvement will require Khara be more forthcoming with release data then before. Toho+Toei being ...

Re: Shin Eva - Official Social Media

June 6, 2020 is a Saturday and all three previous Rebuilds were released in Japan on a Saturday so it is possible. But lately it looks to me like Japan has switched to Friday being the day they release films nationwide so who knows. Someone with better knowledge of the Japanese film industry may be ...

Re: [Film] The Trailers & Upcoming Films Thread

COWBOY BEBOP the Live Action Series is, at best, going to be okay. It will not come close to even being in the same realm as the anime series....

But Ein guarantees I'll watch a couple episodes.

Re: Imaishi and Nakashima are back - Promare

Gurren Lagan has the best story because the pacing of the narrative is solid throughout and the massive jumps in scale work with the thematic through line of human evolution always advancing and moving on to larger things. The fact the show essentially solidly reinvented itself every 7 episodes help...
