As long as we find Kaworu isn't talking about meeting Shinji when they were babies I'm fine.

I tolerate Kaworu for what thematic elements he adds and try to ignore his blatant obnoxiousness. But I don't think I could tolerate a flashback scene of a Chibi Shinji and Chibi Kaworu playing San Francisco Doctor.

All the throwbacks to the original series and EoE (like Kaworu supposedly recalling events from the series, and the blood stain on the Moon) would seem to show that this is an alternate universe, yes.

If this ends up being that Shinji accepted Third Impact and made a multiverse, the ending of EoE only being one, I'm just gonna get annoyed. While I like the idea of repeating stories as a thematic thing, there's already a wealth of alternate universes established for Evangelion. Unless it is uncannily well-done, this will probably tax on my nerves. Still, I'll most likely enjoy it being the whore I am.

Yes, I would be quite annoyed if something like that happenend, too.

I do think it would really great if it was revealed that EoE and RoE are connected in some way in the final RoE movie. But, this would have to be extremely inventive and clever for it to not annoy me. However, I certainly don't doubt Anno's ability to deliver on that for me

Yea but anno's involvement makes this the second coming for a lot of otako
