This was announced a while ago, but no one ever made a thread about it. After years of being out-of-print GKIDS is finally re-releasing 1.11 and 2.22 on blu-ay on October 21st.

The Shout Factory listings say it includes "the most current English version", so it looks like the Funimation dub won't be included. All of the same bonus features from the Funimation release seem to be here though, save for the "Fly Me to the Moon" trailer on 1.11 and the dub cast commentary on 2.22.

Updating this thread to alert it’s all out. Might try to get ‘em as the month (and next month) goes on.

I'm not sure what the licensing issues are on 3.33 are though since it seems to be the only one to not get a physical release from Gkids yet. Hopefully one day though.

It's been a while so I may have forgotten, did the rights with FUNimation expire? Usually those are contracts that take a while to change hands (hence why 1.11 & 2.22 went so long without a rerelease).
Please just call me Ian, "TheFrisky" is more of a title.

I recently ordered 1.11, 2.22, and 3.0+1.11 Collector's Edition from GKIDS. I also got 3.33 on eBay since they have yet to release that title. The first 2 movies are currently backordered, but once they're in stock again, the items will ship! I pray it's sooner rather than later.

Just received my copies of 1.11 and 2.22 from Amazon yesterday, I Went through 1.11 briefly and in case anyone is wondering i can confirm that the Dub is the same one that is on Amazon Prime with the Original FUNi dub no where to be found. On the Menu, the setup defaults to Japanese with English Subs so if you want to watch it dubbed you would have to change it from the Main Menu or change the Audio track while watching the movie. The same would apply to 2.22 as well in terms of Audio Options; the Releases go very well with my Japanese Blu-Ray of 3.333 and the GKIDS Collectors edition of 3.0+1.11 and i am glad that the releases are now all consistent with each other.

If you care about the original FUNi dubs, be sure to hold on to your old BDs as i do not foresee GKIDS reissuing the first 3 rebuilds with those dubs anytime soon

We aren't privy to the details, but presumably they lost the rights back in 2021 when Amazon got them. That's when all mention of Eva was removed from their website. They had also stopped printing 3.33 by then. Anything they had left was just backlog.

I think GKIDS may just want to space their releases out. 1.11 and 2.22 were out of print and hard to find for years, so there's a much higher demand for them. Meanwhile, Funimation's 3.33 release is still readily available at a bunch of places.

OOP doesn't mean the license lapsed nor do home video/television rights equate to streaming rights. While we don't know for sure how long FUNimation's rights were for, the deal with Amazon was likely uninvolved with GKids' eventual home video license. If it was, they would have released all three films closer to the initial release of 3.0+1.11. It's more likely the films were licensed after FUNimation's license expired and the specifics of the release were approved by khara (this part could have held things up too). 3.0 is likely taking longer because FUNimation's license hasn't expired yet/expired later and the release is still going through approvals. The home video release of 3.0 wasn't until 2016, so a ten year license expiring in 2026 is a distinct possibility even if we can't confirm it.

3.33 wasn't out of print though. The Funimation/Crunchyroll stores still had copies for sale up until a year or two ago, and yet they still wiped all mention of it outside the store the moment Amazon got the rights. It's possible Funimation could've still had the rights, but I don't buy it.
