So G-QuuuuuuX is alternate Gundam 0079, specifically "What if Gene didn't attack the Project V convoy, spring into action too early, and allow Amuro to pilot the RX-78-2?" Apparently him not doing that would allow Char to steal it and add (at least two) funnels and win the war. The main story takes place 6 years after this. The Mark 1 looks like an Evangelion with a weird head, Zakus did the opposite of skipping leg day, Guntank is nowhere to be seen, Guncannon variants somehow exist, Braw Bro got its named changed to Kikeroga for some reason and Challia Bull is an actual major character in this, and despite Big Zam being mass produced Dozle still dies with the main BZ, just unclear if it was at Solomon although maybe that was confirmed and nowhere I read mentioned that part.

Now that I think about it mecha anime sure has been hopped up on reimaginings in recent times and not just with the Rebuild movies: Shin Mazinger with Mazinger Z, Space Battleship Yamato with the 2199 timeline mimicking the old stuff, Hi-Evolution to Eureka Seven (although movie 2 was supposed to be different than what we got, we were denied Nirvash soccer teams with Baby The End dancing), that very unnecessary Code Geass quadrilogy (they really couldn't have used the "Lelouch was he coachman theory, could they?"), Grendizer U trying to be like its half century ago predecessor except it became wannabe Valrave and by the same writer no less, the currently Aquarion series is retreading a lot from the first series to the point where the main Aquarion is just the original with new colors, the new Wataru is basically season 1 with an internet skin, and now this. Calling it now: Bones will be so desperate for money they'll remake RahXephon but make it a multiverse hopping comedy to poke fun at all their previous works, maybe get Pitz and Lappa from Captain Earth as the main characters trying to retrieve that twelfth sword from Star Driver or something.
