This game is probably the only NGE game I would care to play thoroughly. (Aside from the N64 game and the Battle Orchestra game. Both I own) I guess I mean it's the only game I would play for plot and story thoroughly and not just game play and nostalgic sound effects :3

I digress; I came back to see what people thought of the game in the forums really quick, and to my attention, there are many sticky topics about the plots, translations, and events that the game is most notable for.

I know the Expanded Universe of Evangelion is vast and fun and what-not. But as a general fan, unless Hideaki Anno has a ripe attachment to the project, I dont consider it Canon, and most of the time I consider it a waste of time.

But every time I see or read about NGE2 I get a strong urge to play it. My Japanese is basic conversation at best, and my reading could use some improvement as well, I seriously doubt that a game as complicated and deep as this would be easy for me to enjoy aside from just pressing buttons hoping I'd win.

I guess what I'm trying to say is: Has anyone ever tried to rally some Eva fans and make a fan translation of the game itself? It's probably the most sought after Evangelion game to date. (giving Anno involvement and clear classified back stories, I'd say it's pretty canon.)

I've seen NamcoXCapcom PS2 games get fan translations, and MOTHER 3. I think the Eva community could potentially be as strong as they are. (Hell, it's almost considered the 'star wars' of anime in some opinions.)

For years, every time I check to see playable English Evangelion games this is the one I always look for first. Girlfriend of Steel got a translation, and that was a decent visual novel. I bet this game would be like 10x better!

I'm very curious myself, this game is an important eva-related material.

Nobody ever even translated something "easy" like GOS2, so NGE2 is probably a no go unless something serious is organized by people who know how to accomplish that sort of thing. How do you make a fan translation for a PS2 or PSP game?

What Reichu said, PC games like GoS2nd, ARP, ISRP would be fairly easy to translate, we'd only need dedicated translators; Evangelion 2 is a console game which doesn't have any hacking tool as far as I know, we'd also need someone skilled enough to do the hacking. There was a dude who posted in the NGE2 who apparently was capable of hacking the game, months ago I tried to contact him via PM but the message is still in the outbox.

There are plenty of games that were translated/are in the process of being translated, including RPGs like Valkyria Chronicles 3 on the psp.

But Evangelions 2 might be too much of a niche game to be translated, I don't know.

Has anyone ever tried? I saw Reichu's let's-play, but I can't read Japanese. I guess I'm not the only one, but it would be neat if their was a fansubbed version in English.

We need dedicated hackers and translators. I could help translate, I suppose, but we really need people from the former category before we can get anywhere.

Dont think so, unfortunately. Maybe that one "Shinji punches the wall and his stats go down" tweet might renew some interest in the game and maybe spark something.
