I have the UHD BD release! Non-spoiler images in the spoilers.
Apparently when you start the disc, it announces that the film will automatically start with all handicap features on unless you press the "Menu" button, so it plays with narration for the visually impaired and subtitles for the hearing impaired.
Selecting the "Menu" brings you right to the main menu, which looks like this.
For the tech heads out there, the UHD disc features a 10-bit color range format, so the color gradients are really smooth throughout. (Opposed to the 8-bit color format of the regular BD, which results in a lot of color banding in gradient colors.) The image is also
way clearer and more crisp on the UHD disc than it is on the BD disc, which is somewhat surprising since the film was basically formatted in a cinematic 1080p workflow. The manual upscale looks magnificent.
My only slight complaint is that it does not come equipped with an HDR color grade, so no "brighter than bright" colors like we saw in Japan's
Shin Godzilla release. (The atomic breath sequence looked amazing in that film in HDR!) But everything still looks very impressive without it.
12/10, my collection finally feels complete.
