I’m glad to see that there are so many Macross fans around here. Macross DYRL is probably one of may favourites anime films.

In "Hell has Frozen" news: Fathom Events is showing both Frontier movies. In theaters. Here in the USA.

It's so out of left field, even I had to come back from my tombstone to post it.

They announced that a few months ago IIRC, but its pretty cool.

Already imported English subs versions of the Frontier movies, the Delta series, and the first Delta movie but dammit I might have to double dip...

Definitely getting that Plus blu-ray too, and might as well get the II blu-ray, uh, too. Hope to see SDF/7/Zero available some day...

If they do release SDF then the obvious must be adressed. Would they keep the ADV dub starring Vic or start over from square one?

They'd probably just include whatever they have, for better or worse. I personally do not care about English dubs though.

I remember one time asking Monica Rial if ever was a redub who would she want to replace Vic and shé said she would pick either Clifford Chapman or David Matranga.

Some two thirds of the way through Frontier; it's solidly middling so far. Not bad by any stretch, but it has a few issues that mean it does struggle a fair bit to come together as a cohesive show, it feels like it can't decide if it wants to be a plot of the week or overarching narrative the same way it can't decide if it wants to be a highschool romcom or a war story.
There's also the issue that the story and the plot are happening almost independently of each other, there*s frustratingly little cause and effect or even just agenda on the part of any character other than the mystery box that the conspiracy gang has going on, which is also too vague to really do much with even after their loredump meeting recap episode, as well as generally shallow and largely not very memorable and aggressively capital-A-Anime characters.
I'm willing to handwave the music Newtypes thing that the show has going on as a legacy plotpoint that the franchise is now stuck with and has to use as a crutch or else the old fans get upset the same way that Gundam has its Char clones, so I'm not gonna dock it any points for that, but it definitely feels a bit hamfisted in its execution.

So yeah, so far sits at a 6/10, not a show I regret watching, but if it continues at this rate definitely nothing that I'm gonna come back to or watch with anyone else. Might give Delta a try at some point after, but that's counting chickens before they hatch at this point
