I'm actually watching that right now. I did notice some scenes are SD quality like the Evangelion logo in 25'.

Turns out there seems to be at least one usage of Fly Me to the Moon on the Collector's and Ultimate Edition sets. From the sounds of it, my guess is that they didn't have access to the original stems for the original ADV dub and tried to edit it out as best they could while keeping the dub track in tact. It is apparently absent completely in episode 21, so maybe they were able to get a hold of the stems for the DC dub episodes? I have no idea. These are the only ones people are talking about atm since they're the most popular, so it's not clear if the other three times B-4 is used have been edited (episode 2, episode 17, and Death).

The booklet that comes with the special $180 edition says there may be some hard to restore color fading, scratches, and speech noise due to the quality of the masters. No idea what speech noise is but I did always notice the first shot we get of the MP Eva's when they're in the numbered ships looked pixelated to all hell on Netflix and it's in the blu rays too sadly.

Since (as Sephirotic states) Khara maintained the flaws of the DVD Renewal set for their big BD release, it seems pretty unlikely that they would make changes just for foreign distributors; and they may well insist on there being no changes other than re-encoding with the dubs.

It'll be a little while before I have time to make such checks on my new BDs (I have the Japanese ones too, so can compare directly if I want).

Oh wow, I was just about to make a post griping about GKids never responding to my emails about the missing subtitles on the live-action deleted scene. Well, they just did, and it's confirmed: it was not intended to be missing subtitles.

They now have a link where customers can order replacement discs where the scene is subtitled!

I was wondering this. You have to upload proof of purchase, but I'm not sure what qualifies there. For myself I'm just going to wait and see, as I'd be stoked not to have to do anything.

I’m sure saving an email as PDF or a screenshot of the payment receipt email would suffice, but perhaps this will be something that we get to skip having ordered the limited/delayed versions.

I was wondering if it affected UK copies. I don't see any options for EU addresses on the disc replacement site. I suggest emailing All the Anime. I emailed GKids through an email listed on their store page.

Thank you so much! I suspected there was something awry about the deleted scene not having subtitles when everything else does.

I know of a similar issue that happened with Viz Media's release of Sailor Moon R Part 2 a few years back that also required replacement discs. Thankfully I bought the corrected version after the fact and didn't have to replace it. Hopefully the Eva releases from here on out will also have the new disc.

Oh fuck yes, we don't have to send back our OG disc! I know it's weird but I love little production fuckups like this as a collector's item, it's not to the scale of that pornstar being in the menu of one of the Australian DVDs, but it's still a strange little quirk, definitely holding on to it even if I can somehow find my Best Buy receipt for proof of purchase lol

I'm kind of confused how mine hasn't been shipped yet. Pretty sure I pre-ordered within the first five minutes of it being available.

I thought they said the nicer editions were delayed until January.

Has anyone who ordered the disc 5 replacement received it yet? It's been over a week since I placed the order.

EDIT: I just got it today.

Well, I got the Disc 5 replacement fairly quickly, which made me think that the Ultimate Edition was gonna be shipped just as quickly.

This is not true. My order is still in the “Confirmed” status with no other update. Km supposed to get text and email updates regarding the order, so I’m just hoping my phone lights up nonstop one of these days.

After which, I plan on doing an unboxing video for the official EvaGeeks YT channel.

From the looks of things, it seems like the UK isn’t suffering from the same supply chain issues, but DOES seem to have the same masters and the GKIDS release.
