Like after Rise of skywalker I don't hold high hopes for this, but I considered the crystal skulls the real low point so this might surprise me.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge better be his trainee and not a love interest and they better not go Marion died, so Indiana is hitting on women old enough to be his daughter. (As Marion's age in the raiders when they first met is a topic of controversy since she was 15)

I also don't want this to be a hand-over and her just be a new female Indiana Jones as Hollywood and Disney should get off their arse and write a new female character and create a brand-new franchise not just do gender flip as its lazy and solves nothing in my view. So far Tomb Raider and Evelyn Carnahan are the closest they've come to this topic both are very much from the 90's/2000's time frame and this idea needs a flesh writing and a fresh lick of paint.

Who's writing this? I can't find that info.

The problem with RIse of Skywalker was the script, which was like going through JJ Abrams having a fucked up fever dream after he took too much NyQuil and Benadryl.

I actually like Crystal Skull! Much more than the Star Wars prequels.

Pros!
- Opening in Area 51 was solid.
- Shia was shockingly decent, note the scene with him getting emotional while visiting the asylum cell Oxley stayed in.
- I actually like them switching to a sci-fi mystery to change it up from the previous supernatural elements. Fits the 1950s time frame.
- Cate was my favorite villain of the series. Her speech to Indy about brainwashing America was great.
- Loved the moment with Indy completely baffled about the skull turning to Shia and saying "What is this thing?", Chilling.
- Good overall mystery.
- The atomic test was a solid tense sequence despite the preposterous resolution to it.

Cons!
- Shia swinging on vines.
- Fridge survival.
- Cate's death with her eyes bursting into flames was weak.
- Arguably too much CGI (never bothered me)
- Pushed Shia a little too much.

I would rate the series...
Raiders = Great
Temple = Very Good (need to re-watch)
Crusade = Great
Skull = Very Good

Because we aren't allowed to have nice things...

Now, Mail Online has shared a very interesting rumour that we're sure at least some fans won't be happy about. According to the site, Phoebe Waller-Bridge is being eyed to take over from Ford as the new face of Indiana Jones. Apparently, she plays Indy's assistant in this fifth instalment, but the Fleabag star would then become the franchise's first female lead in future movies.

The site notes that, "Insiders claim Kathleen Kennedy, the Hollywood producer behind the franchise, is keen to make 'big, bold' changes – with few bigger than switching the lead character to a woman." One source adds, "It would be a huge statement, and a great role for Phoebe."

Jez Butterworth(script)
John-Henry Butterworth(script)
Philip Kaufman(characters)

That's what imdb says, at least.

We should be getting a trailer this week.

My Wishlist for the film!
- The leaks especially the ending are completely false (if they are real whoever wrote the script is a genuine cultural rapist)
- Marion & Mutt were not killed off between films but more importantly they have not abandoned Indy if still alive. Ideally Marion has a cameo, she & Indy are still married & happy. Mutt is off on his own adventure.
- The film is much closer to Top Gun 2 rather than Last Jedi/Terminator Dark Fate in terms of respecting/cherishing the iconic characters.
- Fleabag does not upstage, degrade or emasculate Indy.
- Mads Mikkelsen has plenty of screen time.
- Has a happy ending.

Trailer - https://youtu.be/ZfVYgWYaHmE

Looks great to me, some of the CGI is poor (Indy on the horse in the parade) but the de-aged shot looked solid to me.

How can Indy say "I don't believe in magic" with a straight face?
Please just call me Ian, "TheFrisky" is more of a title.

"Knowledge seeks no Man."
