The Sailor Moon Eternal movies are finally on Netflix now! I thought they were really good. Now all I need is an official bluray release in the U.S. and for the Stars movie to be announced on June 30th aka Usagi's birthday.

Has anyone here seen the Eternal movies yet? I saw them back in June both subbed and dubbed and I loved them. The only gripe I had was the English dub keeping Palla Palla's spell names in Japanese. I also liked the English dub keeping the honorific. I'm ready for a Western Bluray release and for them to announce the Stars arc adaptation already!

Also, I recently started collecting the ADV Dic dub DVDs this year and so far I have 8 out 14 DVDs and I just need 6 more DVDs to complete my set.

Well, I finally own all of the original English dub of Sailor Moon on DVD, all of the Viz redub on bluray, and all of Crystal on bluray. Now if only we'd get officially licensed English subbed DVDs of the all of the musicals (both old and new) and PGSM I'd be a happy camper. It would be nice if we get a North American bluray release of the Eternal movies. Next year will be the 30th anniversary of Sailor Moon and I'll be turning 30 too. I'm hoping that they finally announce the Stars project and that they finish the rest of the full color manga including Codename Sailor V and that it gets a physical release and an English translation.

This year is the 30th anniversary of the Sailor Moon franchise. They recently announced at an event in Japan on Thursday that the final arc of Sailor Moon Crystal which is the Stars arc will be called Sailor Moon Cosmos. It’ll be two movies that are coming out next Summer. I’m really hoping for a worldwide theatrical release or if we don’t get that a Netflix release again. I’m really hoping that the Eternal movies will get a physical Blu-ray release out here in North America. Here is the trailer for Sailor Moon Cosmos:
https://youtu.be/4hL-ChmRIU0
I’m also hoping that we’ll eventually see the side stories and Codename Sailor V animated too.

Ye Gods, has it really been that long?!?

An animated Codename: Sailor V would be quite amusing!

Checked my Facebook recently and in one of the pages I am linked to, they dropped a bit of knowledge about Uranus and Neptune in SuperS in which they only appeared in one episode during that season and it had something to do about one of them being sick before a MotW battle.

I can explain that: after about 4-5 episodes of SuperS (can't recall the specific amount off the top of my head, might edit post later), Toei made the decision to make a hour long special containing three segments: the first is a clip show of sorts, second part is an anime-exclusive Haruka/Michiru story, and the third is an adaptation of a manga short story involving a vampire.

It's not really an episode of the anime, just a fun quirky one-off thing.

If one is a fan of SuperS, it's pretty much more of the same. Don't expect anything out of the ordinary. Viz's Blu-Ray should have it.

Double posting for big news: Saban Moon was in the Library of Congress all this time. And someone got all they have onto Youtube.

Once you see it, you'll understand why it was lost media for so long.

We got another trailer for Sailor Moon Cosmos! This time it’s all about the Sailor Starlights. Also, the Japanese release dates for the movies are June 9th for part 1 and June 30th aka Usagi’s birthday for part two. I’m really hoping that we get a theatrical release here in the U.S. instead of a Netflix release. I’m still waiting for a Western Blu-ray release of the Sailor Moon Eternal movies. Also, I do wonder what’s going to happen to the Sailor Moon franchise after the Cosmos movies. Will they adapt the side stories and Codename Sailor V? Will we get a sequel or prequel manga or anime adaptation? Will we get more musicals? Or maybe even a live action Japanese Sailor Moon movie series? Or will the franchise go on another international lockdown like in 2005 after PGSM and the Shin Kaguya Shima musical ended?

Oh God it's still going.

I was doing a nostalgia rewatch a few months ago where I stopped just before Sailor Moon S (original run) to take a break from all the sweetness.

TLDR; it aged better than I expected but now as an adult I wish it was a more "serious" show, but that's me being me and expecting too much out of stuff. I understand it's a shoujou show (based on a shoujo manga) but there have been shoujos and seinens that managed to hit that apex I look for.

See The Ancient Magus' Bride, which is officially a shounen but it has always read as a seinen/josei to me (haven't read the manga yet, waiting until it officially ends to read through all the volumes I've bought lol).

I was hoping the Crystal remakes were "deeper" but apparently they're more manga faithful, which means a focus on plot and the main romance; meanwhile my favorite part of the original run was the character development, comedy, and the tiny bits of "adult" writing I thought I saw.

S will give that. SuperS and Stars will offer romance, direction, and ideas that had a profound influence to a number of Western shows right now that some people say is adult. It's going to explore themes and ideas that you'll be shocked happened in a kids' show. Keep going.

Anyone expecting Crystal to be good all these years later is going to be set up for sheer anguish. You're better off just reading the manga; that sort of storytelling can only work when the reader is in control of the pacing.

Going through watches and rewatches right now after reading for a few months. After I'm done (hopefully this weekend) with Patlabor Next Generation and the sequel movie I'll jump back to Sailor Moon S.

Pretty excited now.

As for Crystal, the only reason I brought it up was because someone I knew recommended it; swore up and down the road that it was just the OG run but prettier. Then I went online lol.

Been going through Sailor Moon S and I've enjoyed it so far; will probably be done with it during this upcoming weekend.

Wanted to post this before then cause I might forget to during the next few days.

If nothing else happens or changes, I'd be pretty decently satisfied with it. It's funny, there are a few heartfelt moments, and it's ever so slightly teasing slightly more adult themes. In the last seasons they flirted with themes young girls would relate to but in S—because of them being on the brink of High School—they're getting more grown up.

Stuff like Ami having an honest to goodness existential moment because she doesn't know what she want to do as an adult is pretty solid as a theme. There was even some toying around with the concept of gay relationships.

Plot is still meh (I can take it or leave it) though I hope it goes somewhere interesting with the whole
SPOILER: Show
Neptune and Uranus having the talismans all this time.

I don't think they'll go darker or more adult, but if nothing else changes it's been solid so far.

Worst case scenario I'll keep out holding hope for a darker, more adult Mahou Shoujo someday in the future, cause the last few episodes of the original run
SPOILER: Show
were ballsy (before they handwaved it away to have a happy ending).

And yes I'm aware of all the edgy and dark Mahou Shoujo shows, but I meant good shows.
