curious about the VHS tapes both dubbed and subbed.
They were released in white and some in black.
Is this the case for both the dubs and the subs?
Does every volume come in both white and black or only later ones have black?
Curious if anyone knows anymore about these tapes that could answer this.
Thank you

Re: VHS colors
HA! I knew there was a reason I kept these tapes despite having Eva on disc.
It looks like the ADV subtitled tapes were all white. 4 and 11 I guess you could call beige. The cases are that color the whole way.
I checked my other remaining ADV tapes and there's 6 white, 1 beige. Even the Devil Hunter Yoko tapes (think that's the first thing ADV released.) My memory is ADV tapes were always white, then again I may have forgotten or just not seen other colors.

Re: VHS colors
Hmm. Thought I replied but 8 don't see the reply anymore so excuse the double post if it shows up.
I just got a dubbed set and a subbed set. The subbed set is all white but the subbed had vol 13 on a black tape.
Found and bought a white tape of 13. Curious if all volumes have a black tape variant or is it something that only happened on the later volumes?

Re: VHS colors
As far as I can tell this is the variations of the tapes:
Evangelion VHS Dubbed:
White tapes: 1-13
Black tapes: 12,13
Evangelion VHS Subbed:
White tapes: 1-13
Black tapes: 12,13
I'm guessing the last sets were released in both black and typical white tapes.
I have only seen black tape varaints for both vol 12 and 13 dubbed.
I have only seen black tape variants for vol 12 subbed. I haven't seen one of vol 13 as a black tape but going to assume it comes in black and white like the dubbed sets
