I don't know how involved Khara was in the sub and dub, but there are some strong mistakes.

For example: Kensuke explaining Kaji's death in Spanish (Latino):

"Él murió. Alguien debía sacrificarse para evitar el Casi Tercer Impacto". ("He died. Someone had to sacrifice himself to prevent the Near Third Impact").

I liked them. It was a fun romp through the Evangelion universe.

It's a bit tough to rate them. 2.0 feels like the best because it's like NGE adapted to modern (at the time) anime standards with a big budget. Basically, it's NGE made to be more entertaining to casual viewers, which I feel was a byproduct of 1.0 being a less digestible version of the first 7 episodes.
Then 3.0 is a SUPER easy watch and it's all original content, but it's not quite as entertaining as 2.0.

As movies:
1. 2
2. 3
3. 1

As Evangelion stories:
1. 3
2. 2
3. 1

It doesn't feel right ranking 3.0+1.0 after only three watches, but I think it slots in at number 2 in both lists. I personally liked Giant Naked Rei Head a lot, and the entire Voyager sequence really captured what I loved about NGE's ending. The editing felt more like an evolution of NGE than EoE, which is exactly what I hoped for.

One funny thing about the subs: when maya was calling ritsuko, it was her position then senpai.
The subs were using only XO (commanding officer)

But then in the last time she calls her, the subs uses senpai out of blue.

Also, the subs ommits how ritsuko calls Ryoji... Ryo chan, same thing with Sakura and Toji.

Most everyone I've chatted with agrees that 1.11 is the weakest of the movies. It's a retread of the first few episodes of the series with rather cheap looking animation compared to the three films that came after it, it seems so disconnected.

If I am being totally honest,

1) Ha / You can (not) advance
2) Shin / Thrice Upon a Time
3) Jo / You are (not) alone
4) Q / You can (not) redo

In my opinion, the worst movie is definitely Q. The problem with Q was, everything was working plotwise until the Terminal Dogma sequence. Why did we need two different third impacts? We could have just gone with N3I being the main reason for everything that happened, but nope. We needed to have Evangelion Unit-13 instead of Mark.06; we needed to have this epic sequence in which Shinji pulls both spears, ect. The world-building was not good either.

Q hurt Thrice in that it gave the last movie this impossibly monumental task of answering every question and justifying every plot point. These two movies do not fit with each other at all in my opinion. The point of Q is to establish that Shinji's actions have consequences and that he can't undo his mistakes. But he does just that not only in 3.0+1.0 but also 2.0. In general, Q not only contradicts all of the other movies in some form or another, but it also contradicts itself.

While 2.0 is often criticized for not thematically differentiating itself enough, that is literally not the point of the movie. The point of 2.0 was to properly build momentum heading towards the end of the franchise, bringing in new concepts/ideas like Mari, the Key of Nebuchadnezzar, Mark.06, ect, while keeping the audience engaged and interested as the story progressed and slowly morphed. And it did so masterfully and gracefully, acting as the sole perfectly fitting piece in the NTE puzzle. Q did not.

Finally, while I love Thrice Upon a Time, I can't overlook blatantly bad CGI. This movie needs a stylistic overhaul in some places. In other areas, like the village sequences, Gendo's monologue, or the ending, it shines brilliantly. As in, historically good animation quality. The soundtrack is among the finest in all of Evangelion. And to be honest, I liked the writing, dialogue, and pacing, especially after watching the English dub last night.

Anno has openly said he is considering exploring the timeskip in greater detail, so I think there is still some hope for resolving the gigantic Q plot disaster.

In a world in which so many acclaimed pieces of art completely fail at delivering a satisfactory ending, I'm so happy to have seen how good the ending of Evangelion is.

It did a fine job on Shinji and a few others, but the rest are just tools to support them.

I think it was ok.

The overall plot was good, some of the ending were what ppl wanted to see.

But the details and the characterization wasn't very good. This also got to do with Q's 14 years gap/no explanation of many things.

I feel every character gets it's conclusion in a satisfying way. Obviously there are characters who have more time to develop than others, but sometimes less is more.

But it doesn't mean the characterization is good.

It's not all about time. Toji didn't even worry for his sister when trouble came. Ritusku got so much dialog but most of it didn't build up her character. Misato's handling was quite bad as well.

Minor characters just need one scene, like let Makoto show his sorrow after Misato's sacrifice.

It's been a day since I watched Shin Evangelion and I'm finally comfortable talking about it.
I had the pleasure of watching this movie with my stepfather (the guy who introduced me to EVA in the first place) and we were both speechless as the credits went by. Shin Evangelion is amazing. This is a movie about growing up and accepting change. Most characters, at first, aren't willing to let go of the past. This is true for Shinji, Asuka, Misato and especially Gendo. While Shinji is maturing, his father is regressing. Gendo's plan to meet Yui has always been "over the top" and the film plays with it. Here we have a guy who is ready to kill gods and become a divine creature just to go back instead of moving forward. Underneath his glasses he is literally hollow. The moment he realized that Yui was part of Shinji all along was so emotional it almost brought tears to my eyes. One of my favorite Evangelion sequences, period.
There's something so special about the last few minutes of Shin. Frankly, I loved every segment of this movie. The Village sequence was superb and set the tone for the entire movie. Somehow, the film's last third was able to top it, though. Again, it's about accepting the change and moving forward. These characters are in repeat cycles. Kaworu must experience the same thing over and over, while Gendo is always thirsting for more and more (clones, Evangelions and so on). Asuka is trapped in a body that simply refuses to grow. As a woman, she must relive her frustrated feelings for Shinji again and again. Speaking of Asuka, I'm so happy with her character in this movie. She is in a large number of diverse scenes and plays a big role in the story. It's everything I've always wanted from Shikinami. I'm also happy that her relationship with Shinji received the closure it deserved. I feel like Asuka has always represented a very emotional and human side of Anno. Her bond with Shinji was always meant to be an extreme portrayal of reality, but now they can rest and move on as grownups.
Ultimately, this movie is about life itself. While Gendo spent most of his time running away from himself and disregarding human life, Kaji was ensuring that life was preserved. We change, Evangelion changed and now it's over.

After watching all these movies one after the other, I can say that there is no point in ranking them. In my opinion, Shin is in a league of its own. It's the best NTE movie by a long shot. I honestly believe it's on a par or close to the other two Evangelion endings. It's similar to EOE, while also being unique.
Sure, I could write a whole text on why I think HA is a mediocre film. I don't want to do it, though (at least right now). I would rather celebrate the one superb NTE movie. I'm happy.
Just sit here and waste your precious time. When you want to do something, don't do it right away. Don't do it when you can. Read my posts instead. It's the only way to live a life without regrets.

The rebuild was such a waste of time. This message of "grow up" is so vapid and repetitive. The third rebuild was brave and interesting, specially as some kind of suffering porn to see Shinji debased and ill treated by others, but at the same time it was filled with holes and inconsistencies, it only makes sense if I assume Kaworu is trying to manipulate Shinji by giving him false information.
Now 3.0+1.0 simply doesn't offer anything. The exposition dialogues, long monologues, uninteresting fight scenes- how Asuka in EoE against the mass produce Evas was powerful in comparison!-, how there are no stakes to anything, people just want to foil the plan of this guy to be again with his deceased wife...
Who is the target audience for the rebuild? What is the message? Even when people say it's bad on purpose, it's so cringy. What was Shinji saying "this is the neon genesis, a new beginning"? How can someone be in a position to rewrite reality, and instead of fulfilling his desires, he simply decide to erase the Evas?

There is, in all honesty, something utterly hilarious about the implicit message of Shinji creating the real world circa 2020-2021 when given god-like power. Especially when compared to Gendo's lines a few scenes previous about how there's no war, no division, no strife, etc. in the Instrumentality world. Thanks for COVID, Shinji!

3.33 takes on an especially weird turn now that we know that Kaworu isn't lying about the Spears and the ability to reset everything and create a new world. I was also disappointed by how SEELE's scenario was on track despite them being dead and how Gendo's plan seemingly required an insane chain of odd coincidences and quirks of fate. This is especially disappointing given how well the first three films had arranged their intrigue and clandestine scheming with SEELE and Gendo both trying to out-fox the other and Kaworu turning Shinji against Gendo but not SEELE and so on. But I guess it was all there in the Dead Sea Scrolls.

The Key of Nebuchadnezzar is maybe my favorite thing. It has this intense 'shit, we mentioned this back in the second film, didn't we?' energy. Something something logos of information, Gendo has eyebeams, aaaaand moving on.

Yeah. In 3.0+1.0, everything indicate that the information Kaworu gave Shinji in 3.0 was totally true.

It seems the Near Third Impact was the trigger to bring about the Third Impact, even although they never explain how this works.

Alsi, the Spears could repair the World.

The scene with Asuka going Radiant Giant is great and I love the implication that Unit 02 knows that Eva-13 is playing possum, but, I mean, what if Unit 02 hadn't been a scaredy-cat? Swing and a miss, Gendo!

Thought the exact same thing. There's something kind of unnerving about how optimistic the movie is over something as pointless as getting rid of Evangelions. Sure, this completely fictional thing is the worst hell on Earth imaginable for these characters, so much so that our world and its problems are a paradise and relief in comparison. It might as well be heaven for them. But then, what about the world now? Is Shinji just gonna get an office job at Exxon Mobil and drive the world to the gutters? Create an anime franchise where waste materials are constantly created via merch in a furthering of consumerist destruction? D'oh.

Kaworu turns Shinji against NERV (not especifically Gendo), he always mentioned NERV. The only time Kaworu mentioned Gendo is during the Spears trap in 3.33, because he noticed this was Gendo's plan.

In 3.33, SEELE is already big part of NERV, while Fuyutsuki and Gendo pretend to follow SEELE's plan. In 3.0+1.0, it's even mentioned the NERV's Humanity Instrumentality project is SEELE's plan.

So, I think Kaworu doesn't directly mention SEELE to Shinji, because he doesn't want to overwhelm Shinji with information.

Yes, but he failed to inform Shinji that he was commander of Nerv in Gendo's place for a time, that Shinji didn't actually cause the impact (that was in Dogma), so he wasn't to blame for anything... How can I explain this omission/lie without thinking that he was trying to manipulate Shinij? It's pretty crazy.
