This is curious because the person who drawn this mention the storyboard of Q, it's mentioned a deleted scene where Fuyutsuki explain to Shinji something more about Rei Q.

From what I remember, in the first drafts of the scene where Fuyutsuki reveals the truth about Rei to Shinji in Q, he also mentions that Gendo didn't bothered to transfer the data from Rei II to the Ayanami series created Ha (the artist mentioning that the Ayanami Series are a creation of SEELE and not NERV is new) and that Rei Q is the sixth of the Ayanami from Rei II's series. (which is mentioned in Shin when Fuyutsuki says that the "Ayanami Series Type Six" died)
The artist then goes on to explain that he believes that Rei Q, the previous Ayanami created and Rei II are connected on a soul level, like Rei Trois (Rei III), Rei Quatre, Rei Cinq and Rei Six from ANIMA. (in it, three of Rei III's soulless clones were activated and telepathically controlled by her, but with time they developed their own consciousness and maybe also a soul)

Thank you very much for the explanation. It's pretty interesting, especially the part about Ayanami series being a creation of SEELE.

As I said, I don't remember that part being mentioned when the first drafts of that scene were mentioned in the forum, so we'll need a confirmation from someone who remembers better.

i think Reichu translated the unused storyboard bit in one of the essays on her blog

So, the translation of the audio description has progressed and it turns out that this isn't just a flourish of the artist, Shinji actually DOES "tightly embrace" the empty plugsuit like that in the actual movie - & before that he does rush towards her but he doesn't reach her before she goes plopp.

That explains why some commenters/reviewers mentioned a "confession scene" when I could find no is because it's (probably intentionally) ambiguously worded/ double-meaning due to jp grammar fuckery, I wonder how they'll translate it in a way that preserves both meanings, cause the connection with the village people in general is also super important.

Also, Shinji actually gets the tears out this time (unlike ep 23) which is super important.

I AM IN A GLASS CAGE OF EMOTION literally crying rn the actual movie is gonna DESTROY me.
That's also how the subject doesn't come up upon their reunion, cause, his answer was apparent in his actions, & they had other things to discuss.

Go to user settings and check the show options beside the viewing restriction, which by default stays checked(or circled, whatever) on hide from the beginning. You might also want to change your language to English in case everything besides the tags and artists' notes, comments show in Japanese.
