The last big anime movie whose release I followed was Code Geass Fukkatsu; that did get an extremely limited showing in the US (as in, a day each for dub and sub), but apart from that nothing.
I expect Shin to follow a similar pattern.

I can see why Gendo hired Misato to do the actual commanding. He tried it once and did an appalling job. ~ AWinters

The movies function on their own terms. If people can't accept them on those terms, and keep expecting them to be NGE, then they probably should have realized a while ago that they weren't going to have a good time. ~ Words of wisdom courtesy of Reichu

If any of the talk about Amazon having the rights to the Rebuilds is legit then I wouldn't expect a Blu-ray/home video release outside Japan for a while. A big sell for streaming services is exclusivity. If you want to see Movie or TV Series X (legally) you need to pay a monthly subscription fee. Big reason we probably haven't gotten much concrete news on GKids, or other international releases, of NGE on Blu-ray since last year is Netflix probably has an exclusivity to the title outside Japan for likely two years. After June 19 - two year anniverssary of NGE premiering on Netflix worldwide - I wouldn't be surprised if we start hearing news or get a release date on NGE getting home video releases. If Amazon does have worldwide rights to 3.0+1.0 then they'd want to hold onto that exclusivity for at least one year minimum.
I do hold out hope there will be theatrical runs of the movie outside Japan - I'm fully vaccinated and went to the theater last week for the first in over a year & a half and it was divine - but nothing is certain now. Pre-Covid I would have said it was guaranteed the film would get some kind of run but now that the Streaming Wars are in full swing and some major markets just aren't feasible for a theatrical run yet I fear if a streaming service does have the films then there might not be one.
*Mind you, I'm not against streaming, I just hope ALL options of viewing a movie can be made available. I'd love to see this in a theater.*

Considering the success of Demon Slayer internationally, , most Anime films get theatre releases now, and the fact that every other Rebuild movie got one, the idea that 3.0+1.0 would not have at least a limited run in North America is unthinkable. It will happen.
I mean, predictability is the central attraction and the narrative hook that we've all come to expect from the Evangelion franchise. How come Anno can't realize this? Twice? - FreakyFilmFan4ever

I'd certainly hope that Amazon does a sub only release, if it really is their turn. Leaves the window for dubbing open.

Sub only makes no commercial sense. The right owner will dub the movie.

Nichijou was released subs-only, though that may have been a special case due to the sheer amount of puns in that series! (Or perceived lack of interest, I don't know. I think it has more of a reputation of a cult classic than a major hit, at least from a money perspective as far as the anime is concerned.) Not to say this will necessarily be the case for TuaT, but that anime have been released with sub-only tracks before.

Nichijou's rights don't cost as much as Eva's rights, that's the key.
Re: 3.0+1.0 Cinema or straight to DVD?
The dub already being complete is way old news, no way they’re doing a sub-only release.

A dub was released for that series years later. I have never heard it though.

Nichijou's English dub is available on Funimation. The dub is actually pretty great in my opinion.

To be honest I couldn't care less if it gets a theatrical release here in America or not (although that would be cool) as long as IT EVENTUALLY COMES OUT!!! xD
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!
