Anything you regret in life?

Yeah. You read right. This is for everything that doesn't have anything to do with Eva.

^ It's kinda funny how everything you said matched with my childhood. I got over it. Only suggestion i can give, do the same. There's nothing you can do except get over it or compel them to get divorce which was very unlikely in my case and will bring you much more pain.

Sometimes everything post-approx. 1997 (all the wrong choices for the right reasons), sometimes everything post 1989, often many things post 2009. Did University in a direction that I really liked, where if the world did not suck there ought to have been enough jobs by now (considering the whole climate crisis). For some reason (well, I guess, humans' tendency to stuff their head in a hole instead of facing reality) those jobs never materialized, my attempts to do a doctorate in my field failed, and instead I took a job to develop software, which went wrong due to a batshit crazy manager (who completely fucked up an international project, and of course managed to get a better job afterwards despite that... ) and gave me a burnout and a bad bit of depression.
Then, as I started to get out of that, Psycho-Neighbour happened.
This year, I had a period where I felt really, amazingly happy - right in the middle of lockdown, everything was so quiet outside and I felt really at peace. ^_^ Afterwards, as the Unbelievably Stupid(TM) in my country started to come to light (domestic terror attacks on 5G towers, Freedumb protestors, our brilliantly incompetent government, "It's just a flu" which is still very popular here, etc.) I realized that basically a lot of my depressive episodes are due to other people's idiotic, uncaring, irresponsible and especially utterly incompetent behaviour, both as shown on the news and at work. I'm reminded of a comment the person under whom I would have done my doctorate once made "Why is everyone (in this country) so damn incompetent?" (he's from a more southern country). It tires me. A lot.

What I regret right now is not taking more time for fun things and traveling the world when I was still at university, because doing the same in this country at 40 is much more difficult.

Sometimes I regret having a perfectionist attitude towards school in terms of always trying to get an A grade or B at the very least. School was always pounding it in your head that if you didn't have those type of grades, you'd get nowhere in life especially when it came to the SATs. If I had taken it a lot easier, maybe I could have immersed myself more and made more friends instead of hitting the books like a grudge.

I completely regret my Highscool and university time. I don't how is the educational system in other countries but here in Spain is awful. I remember that period as the worst of I ever lived because I felt so lonely in class. You cannot give a different opinion against the status quo. You have to accept it. If you want to make some difference the teachers and colleagues will make your days awful as much as they can. Sometimes I felt Impotence because I had to shut up and accepting completely injustices. While I was studying hard others were partying but at the end the got 9 or 10 in their exams (this is the equivalent of A or A+) looking like it doesn't matter the effort.
I guess this is the main point why my country is a mess and everything is completely a chaos. If you do not invest in basic principles of education you will have a poor generation. Just notice 44 % of Spanish young people are unemployed. That's the worst sickness in Spain but it looks like our politicians and most citizens do not give a sh*t because you know we have "Real Madrid" and "Barcelona" also good beaches.
Being Spanish and feel frustrated for trying to do the best and not get recognition is pretty common.

Agonizing over regrets is pointless IMHO, not learning from your mistakes....now that's a tragedy.

That being said I regret a lifetime of impatience and not being comfortable in my own skin.

I've done plenty of regrettable things, but I tend to view such things as learning opportunities and sometimes even necessary hardships for the sake of personal development because I'm the protagonist of my own story and I like to think that there's a silver lining to all the dark clouds and bullshit. Occasionally this reasoning can lead me into doing even more regrettable things, but the only thing I truly regret is ever spending so much time dwelling on the regret itself. Certainly if I had a second chance at anything I would do things differently, but that's the thing about hindsight: it's always 20/20. The most important thing to me personally is not repeating the same mistakes, and in order to do so I need to learn from the mistakes I have made, allow myself to make mistakes in the first place, and to seek out beauty in the scars that I carry. Living is learning, and you just gotta do it.

I regret not being able to save my Ex from her raging psychopathy. I don't say that as just a throw-away insult, she is legitimately unwell and I hope someone one day is able to show her the damage she has caused so many people and put her on the right path. I don't know if I should feel regret though, I did everything I could to salvage the friendship I held so dear, but you can only help people who want help I suppose.
Please just call me Ian, "TheFrisky" is more of a title.
