EscapismIsBad sorry I'm afraid I expressed myself wrong. By my post I meant that I was exclusively curious about how Shinji (3.0 + 1.0) will become in the SRW saga. But if you are curious to see a game that adapts the whole Rebuild saga, it will be difficult to get spin-offs like Girlfriend of Steel again but in any case with Battlefields we already have a game where we see an alternative version of the Rebuild with the addition of new characters . Lol if Kotone Suzunami is to become Shinji's next love interest and she reciprocates going forward with the game's story then the poor girl is already dead . I feel it would be nice to have a multiple choice video game where the player could maybe make Shinji feel for Asuka instead of having feelings for Rei II by completely changing the plot of the films.

Would it really change anything as far as the overall plot goes?

Because Shinji being angry about what happened to Asuka after the Bardiel situation was still a huge plot point.

Maybe you'd get a few extra scenes of Shinji & Asuka doing more explicitly romantic stuff and the elevator scene would end slightly different ("Ah, so you're just friends. What a relief!")
Conversely even if Rei wasn't a love interest she'd still be a comrade/friend that protected him from a giant laser beam before.

Why would they change the elevator scene when Asuka's misunderstanding is the reason why she offers to be the test pilot for Unit 03? The entire drama around Unit 03 and the lunch is the turning point of the entire Rebuild story, changing would mean changing basically everthing.

That's rather short-changing Asuka.

Radical Proposal: Maybe she did it... to be nice?? So Rei gets to show off her cooking & have a nice party? Maybe Shinji & Gendo are going to talk?
Does there have to be a romantic component for that to be valuable?
It's not like it was gonna be a straight up date with Gendo there. XDD

Also while she says "well I wanted to pilot an EVA" as a pretext to cover the Wanting-to-be-Nice thing she probably did actually want to stay on the pilot roster.

If anything that would give Asuka even stronger incentive to let Shinji have his silly reconciliation party even if she'd probably (rightly) be cynical about it.

They probably want Asuka to star in some intense battle scene again, similar to EoE. I just hope that the outcome isn't tragic this time. While Unit 8+2, I was never particularly a fan of it, I don't think it fits Evangelion franchise.

Has anyone actually confirmed that tweet was talking about something that was real? If it was a tv spot it'd be on YouTube by now I would think. Plus it has five likes, you'd think there would be more traction to something like this.

Well, it's exactly as many Japanese people described back on Twitter. The shot of Shinji in front of EVA-01 looking up from the supposed* Gendo, has been bothering me since the first mention on Twitter, and it emphasizes that Shinji's plugsuit is the same as the first (「初期プラグスーツ」).

* The author is in doubt if it really is Gendo, he wrote "Gendo?" (「ゲンドウ？」).

I'm pretty sure it's real. If you look for "シンエヴァ CM", there's a handful of tweets about it since yesterday evening. In fact I just checked the latest tab and the tweets are as recent around 20 minutes ago and they all describe mostly the same thing:
- New scenes.
- Unheard verses of One Last Kiss.
- No release date yet, it only has「公開日検討中 共に乗り越えましょう」like in the posters.

Alright then, just kinda surprised no one has ripped it yet.

They're probably airing the TV spot to commemorate 2.0's airing tonight. For extra weirdness, it first shows up on Fukuoka televisions only, but looks like it's slowly spreading to other prefectures and it's only a matter of time before it shows up on Youtube.
