Huh?
Mari's birthday is unknown, isn't? I can't remember any official source reporting her date.

EDIT: Only now I realized that Yui's birthday is wrong, and I had forgotten that Rei's birth date is unknown as well.

If the "VAs birthday" conventions still holds it would be March 31.

Rei & Kaworu are explicitly exceptions to this

I wanted to hold Tsubame more

Reichu's recent essay talks about the Adams, and the weird plural form Anno chose to name them reminds me a lot of another long contested term, Children and Anno's weird insistence to use the plural for it.

Well, didn't Anno get rid of the "First Children," "Second Children," etc terms in the Rebuilds? The pilots were consistently referred to as "shounen" for boys and "shoujo" for girls, and it was translated into English as "Child." I don't know what sort of plot significance it has, maybe it just signifies Anno realizing that the phrase "Third Children" makes no sense in English.

There's no plural in Japanese, so we can only speculate.

It turns out that the explanation behind the term "Children" lay with Rei. Rei Ayanami was called the "First Children" because she was the first of a collective of children, and Nerv stuck to using the ungrammatical term for Asuka and Shinji as a way not to draw attention to Rei and the fact that she has clones.

Widya Santoso's old Eva FAQ wrote:5.11)
Q. Is the term "Children" a deliberate use?

A. According to a Evangelion date/address book, as Rei was not one child, but
several identical clone children, she was referred to as the "First
Children." It is surmised that to protect/hide this information, following
Evangelion pilots were referred to as the "n-th Children".

Whatever the reason, maybe "Adams" and "Lilin+" point to something similar. idk, just something I've observed.

Then, why did they change it in the Rebuilds? Rei is still one of many clones in that continuity. Since the only source for that is a calendar, I'm inclined to believe it was just an after-the-fact retcon.

You'd have to ask Anno why they changed it. You may be right about it being an after-the-fact retcon, or maybe Anno has something else in mind about changing the designation. I also had a sort of Childhood's End theme in mind, the idea of "The Children" being a sort of a super-entity from instrumentality. Come to think of it, that would require a hell of a lot of explanation of its own...

This shot of Sakura from the beginning of 3.0 and the trailer for Thrice is almost a direct reflection:
SPOILER: Show

This scene represents someone waking up on a bed, and directly references Shinji's "birth" from Eva01's juices at the beginning of 3.0. Could this be the birth of a new Shinji?

I could just post screenshots but I figured a GIF would make things a lot clearer. Both Asuka and Mari have the same habit of testing their synchronization reflexes before starting a mission, not to mentions in both scenes they're piloting Unit-02.

Image

More hints that they might be related? Or foreshadowing their eventual "overlapping" in Shin Eva, as Mari said in AVANT1. I still think they will have some sort of synchronization with those white plugsuits, maybe like having their minds and reflexes connected, so in a sense Unit-08+02 still happens, just not in a literal way.

Her expression is different, however. This is a similar but contrasting scene- either its our Shinji but WILLE's response to him is different, or it's Rei II returned, though I find the former much more likely.

Indeed, in the first one she's smiling and trying to put Shinji as much at ease as possible considering the circumstances (a hard task for someone restraining and with four dudes pointing guns at them), while in the second she looks preoccupied by what she's seeing. Maybe Shinji won't get out of his catatonia by the time they are picked up by WILLE and she's worried by seeing how the recent experiences affected him? Or maybe that'll be another scene after something happens to Shinji? (or maybe ReiQ, or Asuka or Mari?)

Because 1.0 was aired on TV last night in Japan and my TL was full of Eva content, I decided to rewatch it too to feel the hype, plus it's been a while since I watched it fully from start to finish. It's kind of a minor discovery, but I noticed this:

Misato and Asuka are always dragging this kid along (even in EoE), trying to get him to get moving.

I know some of the preview may not be used but here some other interesting similarities with ep 09.

Comparing Evangelion 2.22 to Evangelion Q

In 2.22 we have the EVAS interceptating one of Adams progenitors (8th Angel I think) which is falling from the sky.
In Q we have Unit 8 interceptating one of the Adams which is falling from the sky.
They share similar shots and situations.

Bye bye all of Evangelion and Evageeks.
When you feel sad remember that it's always epic Spinosaurus aegyptiacus time, you were born in the same planet as S. aegyptiacus, how cool is it?
I never understood why people hate the Rebuild because it's different and love the Series, can we just love it all without creating dilemmas and unnecessary discussions?

Be careful of 3.0+1.0 spoilers

This is truly the end of this account, forever.
