Spoilers for the ending of Now and Then Here and There:

SPOILER: Show
One of my only complaints(the other being the awful OP) about the show is that it doesn't show what happens to the protagonist after he comes back. I didn't need much, just a couple of minutes of interacting with his family or something. The way it is it feels kind of jarring. Which maybe was what they were going for? But I admit that if it was it wasn't the best decision.

They also kind of leave the entire implication in the air that the place he goes to isn't an isekai at all, but just the world he lives in but millions of years in the future. No like the kid could do much about it, but damn if it doesn't make a sad anime even sadder.

How was the OP awful?

Also, I think it is implied that it’s ten billion years.

SPOILER: Show
Right, the message they have at the beginning of every episode. I think it's meant to be at the point when the increase in the Sun's size just kills the Earth with the heat or something. Well, you can't blame for missing a couple of billions or so can you? :D

The OP is bad for two simple reasons, it spoils several characters appearances for no particular reason and there is nothing in it. Just stills of each character. No animation, no backgrounds, nothing. The music is also completely forgeable. It's like they didn't want an OP at all but were forced to have one.

Exactly all the characters struggles are in vain and it makes the 'happy ending' just come off as emotionally inauthentic, and hollow. It's a lie that 'life is still worth living' and 'everything will turn out alright when

SPOILER: Show
The sun is literally going to explode and all human achievement is to be rendered hopeless and in vain.

Also In regards to Saras storyarc
SPOILER: Show
screw what this show did with her story arc. Oh sure! She's been violently raped and impregnated against her will and cried for her mother and father. But by all means! Stay in the post apocalyptic future where you and your baby are likely going to die of miscarriage and help the woman who threw you to the rapists in the first place.
What about her parents? Does she not realize that they are going to think she is dead? What about them? Doesn't she care for them? She could have at least given Shuu a note to mail to them to give them some closure.

I commend it for ambition and vision, I just don't like what that vision was. It went too far for me.

Well, if you’re looking for something to cope with all that, may I recommend something like say...JoJo’s Bizarre Adventures, which is what I’m watching on Netflix right now.

After Shin and Armageddon, I spontaneously gave Shin Getter Robo vs Neo Getter Robo a watch; man, that was a whole lotta nothing.

SPOILER: Show
It basically takes the positive outlook of the protagonist to the greatest extreme. Even though it's all going to disappear in the end, we should still struggle to live and help each other.
I can't say I don't understand what you felt, but the ending being "nuanced" to put it lightly goes in favour of the anime's message. If they could somehow stop the sun from killing everything, it would go against what they preached, which is that even when life looks like shit and is hopeless you should still try.

Hell, the world is going to turn into an unlivable hell in 5 billion years. But so what? A person has to keep going on despite that.

SPOILER: Show
As for Sara, I also would have preferred if she came back.

But, how could she possibly explain to her parents what happened to her? I don’t they would believe what she had been through. Also, there were those kids to look after. Since Sis had died, who will be able to take care of them? I think Sara chose to stay behind as a way to keep her promise for Sis.

She can't, but neither can the protagonist

I get the reasoning behind her decision, I just find it hard to accept for a girl her age. She's very mature on a moment where being selfish would have been ok.

Yep, that girl has been through too much, so much pain and agony. I think that after what she had been through, I’d don’t think she’d let any guy near her. Those kind of scars won’t heal as easily, and she could tea use someone to provide comfort, and it might as well be her children. I just feel so bad of what happened to her.? All this because of people like Hamdo, and how she was mistaken for someone else. No one should have to go through that ordeal.

Got acquainted with the first two episodes of Genesis Climber Mospeada and let me prefix this by saying it's my first time seeing any version of the show including the infamous Robotech edit.

Not pleased seeing Stig's massive blue battleroid abandoned in the first episode. Also, Mint's near nude moments literally had me look away from the screen. Some things shouldn't be shared! So far the one positive thing i can point out is the OP theme Lonely Soldier Boy, catchy tune.

Japan Sinks 2020
This was one of the most disappointing shows I watched last year. Not even necessarily bad, just disappointing and an underwhelming misuse of a potentially great premise. The first two episodes are genuinely great but the show begins to immediately nosedive after that. It's like halfway through production the director got bored with the premise, and just said 'screw it i'll do what I want. Completely misusing what could have been a great premise for a survival disaster story ala War of The Worlds or 2012 or the first half of Independence Day with weird sideplots about a weird apocalypse cult that somehow knew about Japan sinking decades ahead of time, and finding proof about what was causing the continent to sink.

The whole thing was just overcomplicating what should have been kept a very simple premise. Have a family or small cast of characters, focus on them trying to escape a collapsing continent. That's all you needed to do. You didn't need to add a new character every other episode and have a 'final destination' style death scene that are usually not even earthquake related, to say nothing of several poorly shoehorned in attempted rape scenes. The attempted rape scenes in this series seem really really shoehorned into the story. Like, at the point in the story where the first attempted rape scene happens is at a point where next to nobody knows if Japan is going to sink completely yet, or if the worst of the worst is over and they might be able to go back to something like a normal life.

Which when you look into it the biggest problem here was Masaki Yuasa was not the director for this kind of project. He's more into weird surreal experimental and psychedelic stuff, this should have been in the hands of someone with a history of directing more grounded and realistic styles.

Also the main gimmick of the show was kind've ruined because of the pandemic. As the main characters father was a construction worker working to help setup the 2020 olympics, and his daughter was training to qualify for them, and the anime hit netflix the very day the series was set to start. Its hard to believe that 'this is happening now' when you're several layers removed from the 'real world' the show wants you to inhabit in your own.

I don't think her parents would care either way, as long as they had their daughter back.
Also, they have a time machine. Why not just come bring the kids home to Shuus world in the modern day of the 1990s? It doesn't really make sense on top of the troubling thematic elements.

That's the last I'll say of NATHAT here until a newbie watches it.

Really digging the soundtrack as I watch episodes 1 and 2 of IGPX Immortal Grand Prix!

However, I do have a nagging question. Does anyone here know the name of the song that plays at the beginning of episode 1 when Team Satomi is racing in the IG-2? I know the credits say it's "Atomic Moog" (Cornelius Mix)" by Coldcut but I listened to the song and compared it to the audio on the episode and let me tell you they sound nothing alike.

Higurashi Gou episode 15... Gross. Gross. Gross. GROSS! What the fuck was the fucking point? I want to throw up at this point, it's just pure, mindless torture porn. Fuck you Ryukishi07, you're massacring you'r best franchise. Again what's the point? 0/10.

I did said the ending of Tataridamashi hen was a litteral disaster, but I was talking about in serie, for the characters, like for example when a huge tragedy strike, and it's super sad. Plus ep 14 got us somes hints and answers to chew one and a really, good, but depressing meaningful episode, with good message.

But, this episode? It was just gorefest. Seriously type "bloody intestines all over the place" in google search and pouf, that's it, you have seen the episode of today. Easily skipable.

The point pretty clearly was not only about Rika's increasing despair, but that the loops are getting increasingly incomprehensible and hard for her to predict the causes and outcomes of.

It was probably the single best episode of this show so far tbh, especially if you like a bit of gallows humor.

This reminds me of the Berserk 1997 and Urotsukidoji Legend of the Overfiend 1989 which both had people going WTF at the ending as both are depressing and the gore gets turned up to 11, all I will say is stuff like this gets easier with every rewatch.

The Pioneer dub of Patlabor 2 The Movie while it made sure that the film got overly preachy with it's political message, made me appreciate how intense Megan Hollingshead's natural voice as Shinobu Nagumo could be especially in that moment near the end when she screams "OUT OF MY WAAAAAAYYYYY!!!!" at the robot occupying the elevator to Tsuge. She emoted the rage way better than that Manga dub ever could hope to. For those of you familiar with Megan's work, I am more familiar with the Nurse Joy and Officer Jenny type range she gives out in Pokemon so I have never seen Yu-Gi-Oh or Bleach to see whether the more mature voice Megan displayed in this movie is similar to what Mai Valentine and Rangiku Matsumoto are. Are they similar?
