Thinking about this now Khara should have gone ahead with releasing it with the audio mistakes.

If they did that they’d be able to release Evangelion 3.3333 next week.

Surely this will negatively affect Khara's relationship with IMAX as well as the distributors, considering this is their first ever IMAX release and there's already a royal fuckup, it's a heavy blow for all sides. Hope Shin Eva does good enough to make up for this mess.

That's underselling the gazillion factors that go into making a film work though. A minute error could have caused this. It could have worked at first, and failed trying it the next time.
ANY movie has flaws, it's just bad luck that some are noticeable. Sound is very noticeable unfortunately.

According to Hikawa, the audio materials from Japan that were sent to America are not "reflected" in the conversion. This was retweeted by Evangelion Official, so this is an accurate info. No further official words so far, although he said he'd be surprised if there's an update tomorrow morning.

There's also a PDF attached in the following tweet, although it doesn't really have detailed explanations about the technical problems, only the typical error found during final QC on IMAX side, not Khara. They also promised that the same thing will not happen to Shin Eva (like, OF COURSE lol).

Good thing it was solved pretty fast, they really had us worried.

Regarding the IMAX thing, a JP Eva fan I followed shared this article from October 2020 about Toho's five-films deal with IMAX and it really sounds like a big deal.

Among the films mentioned at the time are Demon Slayer Movie and Stand By Me Doraemon 2, while two of the remaining three unannounced films at the time are most definitely Evangelion: 3.333 and Shin Evangelion. I think the last one could be Shin Ultraman since it's one of their hottest upcoming releases this year. Would be really cool if that happens because it means Anno and Khara get not one nor two, but three films with IMAX treatment in a row in a span of less than a year. (Shin Godzilla was also released in IMAX back in 2016, by the way)

For a Japanese studio that's less than two decades old, it doesn't get more prestigious than that.

Fo comparison, before her palms were of the same shade of gray as her elbow.

- The Shin Eva preview at the end of 3.333 is completely new.
- There are dialogue changes, but not specified.
- As the initial press release said, the changes are mostly minor. The user also noticed a big quality improvement on the visuals. Overall, it really feels like they were trying to make Q look as close to Shin Eva and succeeded.

The "changes" in press release only mentioned about technical and design stuff, so what the user means is there are no story changes. The dialogue changes are also minor so they don't really affect the bigger narrative.

And yes, that's the new NTP narration, recorded in March 2020 according to the following tweet. The preview itself is said to have new footages not seen in the previous trailers.

To me, any dialogue changes are totally wild and unexpected. That's where my surprise is coming from. (Unless it's just narration changes in the new preview, and not actual character dialogue in the movie proper.)
