The beanie hat girl is wearing a French flag color scarf. It's probably young Asuka while in NERV EU? And possibly tie in with the fact that they are in Paris? They changed Asuka's hair to brown in rebuild. That scene is also filtered to be less saturated. That facial movement is also Asuka-esque. I think she is young Asuka (≧▽≦)

At this point glowing eyes have been established as a symptom of high plug depht tho, Asuka and Mari had them too at various points.

Asuka alone in a makeshift tower, is it a temporary base of operations or we don't know how long she, Rei and Shinji are going to roam around Japan looking for a point where they can be found.

I think the girl in the knitted cap might be a younger Asuka. Shikinami's hair looks to be lighter in Shin than in 3.0 so it's about the right color.

Apparently Unit 1 regenerated it's arm including the armour? I mean... sorta of unexpected, is that the pay-off from that moment when Unit 1 regenerated it's from Sachiel fight?
Also, a bit disappointed that Unit 1 doesn't have a new design, but it's ok sincerely. Also, somehow heavily foreshadow Unit 1 origins... I mean, if Unit 1 kept it's Lilith identity it would create a rivalry with 13 even greater! It's one of the Adam's complete with Adam soul (Kaworu) and his Longinus Spear vs. Evangelion literally build with Lilith complete with Lilith soul (Rei II) and her spear which didn't show up in NGE because it was destroyed, the Spear of Cassius!

Younger Asuka seems to be the most natural assumption. Let's assume she's looking at baka-Shinji and he's acting all baka, again. This would fit with Reicju's theory: thread/19857/Adams-Children-and-the-Nature-of-the-Cycle/

There's been a situation like this in every movie, with Shinji doing some sort of "climbing motion" - climbing down the plug in the 2.0 finale, climbing up lillith's back in Q...

I don't exactly agree with that theory but at this point "flashback Asuka" is the likeliest option - note her eye color and of course the pouty face.
The colors just look dimmer because of the lighting.

I wouldn't say so at all... remember that your favorite Rei/Shinji is there in the song's cover art, which is also promotional. Not just that, you have Kaworu looking pensive, sorta heavy, and then immediately after Shinji is all angry, piloting, and after the Wunder scene (apparently nobody noticed there seems to be ANOTHER, new ship there?) and Unit 02, we have a scene with Unit 01 fighting Unit 13, which is most likely Kaworu in some way.



Personally, I interpreted the songs as just having no specific character singing them or, at the most, Yui. Beautiful Boy in particular feels very motherly. But, again, they probably don't mean anything.

Though I suppose it could just as easily fit Kaworu, the whole "you changed by life though it was all doomed from the start" thing (though "Mona Lisa" implies a girl)

Or silliness aside, the sense of loss that Shinji would feel from just about any relationship he's had with his former allies before the timeskip parted them.
So is he going to chose to try moving towards them even though they rejected him in the past, and even though the last parting & the experience of loss hurt so much?

sakura is not looking at Shinji but the most likely option her brother.
I really doubt Rei II is going to return she's for all intents an purposes dead also Kaworu seems to be a sort of a ghost but who knows..
