Are there two AAA ships in trailer 3?
Looking at trailer 3, the last two action shots which feature the Wunder in combat. However in the second last shot, a AAA ship that is firing has two noticeable differences. The three large communication dishes are gone and are replaced by diamond like structures. Also the lining around the beak is blue instead of red.
Cut to the next shot showing the obvious AAA Wunder flying towards the camera and taking firing the diferences become all too obvious.
This has been speculated before that Nerv/Seele also have a AAA ship based on the bridge scene near the end of 3.0. It would explain how Nerv escaped HQ and recovered Unit 13.

Pretty much "yes".

As Joseki has said, pretty much yes.

On an off note, there has also been some speculation about the possible name of the new ship - the one I like the most is Unheil, German for disaster/calamity
I can see why Gendo hired Misato to do the actual commanding. He tried it once and did an appalling job. ~ AWinters

The movies function on their own terms. If people can't accept them on those terms, and keep expecting them to be NGE, then they probably should have realized a while ago that they weren't going to have a good time. ~ Words of wisdom courtesy of Reichu

While I know NTE is much more Anime than NGE ever was, but Gendou and Fuyutsuki being so cartoonish as to pettishly actively bringing Unheil upon the world is kinda tacky, imo.

I'm thinking more along the lines of having it be in contrast to the Wunder, rather than it being necessarily reflecting of Gendo and Fuyutsuki's goals

I'd like to know the origins of these ship tho, like how they were concieved (or found?)in the first place.
The fate of destruction is also the joy of rebirth.

Re: Are there two AAA ships in trailer 3?
I was always team "Wunder is the 11th Angel", so this second Wunder being basically confirmed is a pretty big bummer for me, but I think it at least solidified the Wunder(s) origin story.
Option 1:
There are 2 Wunders.
One for "Tree of Knowledge" beings (Lilith) and one for "Fruit of Life" beings (Adams) that the original giants hypothetically arrived on the planet with.
These ships could have either functioned like the black and white moons in the original series, being the actual transport vessels that brought the species to the planet, or they could simple be something that "came with" the species on their moons, like the lances or the dead sea scrolls.
Option 2:
There are 4 or 5 Wunders.
Wunders are distributed more like the lances, with one for each giant. So at least 4 for the 4 Adams.
The AAA Wunder is specifically Adam in nature, with its "Original Master" being Eva Mark 9, so maybe Marks 10 to 12 also are the masters of their respective Wunders (which may or may not even be operational or even shown).
I think Option 1 just sounds more likely and managable to me. Which would mean that Gendo's Wunder would have to be Lilith's. I could go for a Black Wunder to match Lilith's Black Moon (plus a Spear of Cassius to round out the Colonization Start Set: Knowledge Edition)
The major dilemma for this though, is definitely why Mark 9, a Vessel, would be tied to the AAA Wunder instead of one of the Strangler Adams, or even all the Adams together as a group? Is there just one Vessel that serves all 4 Adams?
Re: Are there two AAA ships in trailer 3?
Okay so we're agreed. There are two Arks. Nerv pratically gave Wille both the Wunder and Unit 01 to power it ensuring they'll bring Unit 01 to the final showdown.
So here's the next question. What is powering Nerv's ark? Is it Unit 13 or the Mark.10?

Re: Are there two AAA ships in trailer 3?
If it needs a "power source" like Wille's Wunder did by using the Awakened Unit 01, then it pretty much has to be Unit 13, which Awoke in 3.0.
I feel like a lot of the contrived stuff that happened with Nerv in 3.0 was "lining up one's pieces on the chess board" for the final confrontation coming in Shin Eva. From a theming stand point I feel like it's gotta be 13 then, but from an "understanding that in reality this is all just fiction and they can make up the rules to be whatever they want" sandpoint... If they wanted, they could literally just have it be that Nerv's Wunder is more "complete" then Wille's, not needing to rely on the archaic way of using an Eva as a glorified battery.

Alternatively: It's the same one after some repairs or transformations.
Are both ever in the same shot?

Re: Are there two AAA ships in trailer 3?
^ They're not in the same shot, but the scene as it appears in the teaser feels like a “Shot-Reverse-Shot” edit of two different vessels. I rarely question the use of that technique, especially in trailers or teasers. There’s just not enough information in the teaser in order to make a judgement call on it.
Re: Are there two AAA ships in trailer 3?
I don't think the arks "are" anything in particular: they're supersized evangelion units (i.e. a clone of Adam or Lilith) build by Wille, with a different composition, not mimicking the human shape but something functional. We see evangelions (Mk.04 and friends) diverging more and more from the chest-two-upper-two-lower-limb composition. Mk. 4444C has several torsos and tentacles for legs, why couldn't they have build a massive thing such as the Wunder?
My theory is: Wunder is a copy of one of the Adams (the same one Mark 09 is made of) in a huge body, and is designed to be activated by different means. We've seen plenty of times how angels use their AT Field to propel them upwards, in order to fly (Sachiel, Zeruel, Mk. 06, Evangelion 01…) and this is how the Wunder was able to harness Eva-01's AT Field to fly. Wunder is like an Evangelion for Evangelions, where Eva-01 is "the pilot". This has even led me to imagine that Wille has in fact harnessed Rei's soul from Eva-01 and are using it at the core of the Wunder, to establish synchronisation between Eva 01 and the Wunder!
I have no idea of how Nerv would manage to get another ark, but seeing as they made Eva-13 from scratch and Shini's had no problems syncing with it albeit Wille clearly showing his Sync Rate is 0%, it may mean they have found a soul replacement.
Sorry, as a lurker I had a lot to say

Re: Are there two AAA ships in trailer 3?
The Wunder was built by Wille? Yet Nerv's or Seele's Mark.09 was it's original master? I think Wille commandeered the Wunder after Seele surrendered it leaving Nerv with it's 'Nemesis' ark. Don't forget the actions of Colonel Katsuragi during the 4th impact was part of Gendo's plan as was Wille's operation to secure Unit 01. I wouldn't be surprised Nerv tipped off Wille about the tesseract's location.
Wille has nothing that Nerv/Seele willingly allows them to have.

Re: Are there two AAA ships in trailer 3?
To me it seems pretty apparent that Misato stole it , and fairly recently at that.
Just from how the design resembles Mark 9 resembles it's bridge, the animal noises, the "original master" line, it seems heavily implied that it was something Neo Nerv built to be controlled by Mark 9 or something like it. EVA 01 was then procured as an alternate power source.
Indeed if you look closely they've used a 44A as a power source (presumably, Asuka and Mari caught it)- see the analysis wiki article on the wiki, some good catches there ) but that's not enough for flying.
From the dialogue it seems implies that they haven't had it for long, it was as of yet rather untested, they're only just transferring their personnel there...
Also there's it's resemblance to the Third angel with all the bones, and how it was apparently tried to affix an entry plug & a power cable to it... The Wunder and hypothetical sister ships might be copies of it.
That#s something I love about EVA that it does tech so realistically. Like you see tests & jury rigged versions of something first then it goes into mass production, then improved versions...
The tech over the timeskip had improved, the interface is now 360 degrees, the plugsuits thinner & smoother, the batteries better etc.
I kinda wish we'd seen her steal it. Well, ultimately it would just be an action scene that wouldn't add more to the plot than having it implied that that's what they did, but I bet it was cool.I bet she recruited an army of downtrodden youngsters from the remaining refugee camps, whipped them into shape & got them to believe in hope.
Having Misato & co fight a "sister ship" (if that is not just a mod after all) might of course be the excuse for all about it to be explained/ come up in dialogue.
I feel a bit reminded of the Vector Craft from the Evangelion Manga, "Were basically in a giant angel here"
oThe title "Ark" might just be a flourish/flavor/symbolic, but it's fully possible that it has some impact related powers/properties.
Or maybe it just somehow (AT Field?) protects the people inside and nearbyfrom core-ization so they can move more freely than they otherwise would, like the original arc protects the near extinct life from the flood.
