YES! YEEEEESSSSS!!!!!!

My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU Anime Season 3 Premieres on April 9

Finishing the LN Now. The ending is wayyy overdue, like, nearing FMP territory. But, meh. WW didn't finish the LN until last November, so, what could they do?

Anime only ending? Adapt ANOTHER?

Utter foolishness. Anta baka. What a Hachiman.

SPOILER: Show
ANOTHER borders on EoE passive-aggressiveness towards fans who "didn't get the message".
Sure, no one dies, but you don't get a clear-cut Hiki-Yui romance either. You get a romance that struggles to take off, can't express "I love you", and gives off every indication of failing.

Not to mention; Hachiman giving up on "genuine".

It's good to have a complete adaptation once in a while. I'm hoping for more amazing character animation, the second season was gorgeous.

I've now finished the LN (well, as far as I can; there's no official English release of volume 14, and the fan translation of the last two chapters was more of an "overview".)

I can say that my enthusiasm is kind of curbed. There's moments I'm still looking forward to being adapted (to include the ones I haven't actually read), but it seems W.W. gave into certain pressures, and avoided the "bittersweet ending" he talked about in interviews. And hinted in almost every volume from 1-11.

And he didn't really complete Hayama's character arc. Or Haruno's. Yui gets all these dark-sounding interludes and memorandums and... it never goes anywhere.
Not even after...

SPOILER: Show
Haruno reveals "co-dependency" is afoot in the three's relationship, making Yui really, really angry.

Oh and Yukino, never reveals what the purpose of the Service Club was to Hachiman.

SPOILER: Show
She drew it up to help Hachiman specifically, to fix the loner attitude she feels she caused him to adopt due to the accident.

In so far as this adapts Volume 12, which is tonally pretty consistent with what came before, I think it'll be good (Haruno introducing more DOUBT into the Service Club). After that, things get more spotty.

There's no ".5" Volumes left to adapt, so I wonder what the OVA will b-- oh God, please don't be ANOTHER...

EDIT:

Here's a PV with what sounds like the new OP for this season:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_Cvvl1fVBE

You can turn on auto-translate and pick out some of the words. Hikki is saying something along the lines of "We won't understand if it's not said. Even if it's said, it won't be conveyed."

I can't recall where exactly I heard him say this, though it's similar to his response to Yui in Zoku episode 8, right before he asks for "something genuine".

Woops, spoke too soon, Volume 14.5 confirmed:

https://www.reddit.com/r/LightNovels/co ... ort_story/

Wish list:
* Haruno's invocation of
SPOILER: Show
co-dependence
is directly confronted, and defeated.
* Haruno and Hayama get their character arcs resolved.
Hayama finally gets forgiveness from Haruno (he already got it from Yukino last season), Haruno manages some sort of truce with Yukino, and gets the "fellow-traveler" she wishes for so she can stop being lonely. And a bitch.

* Yukimom actually does something to be a threat. More so than she was in Volume 13 or 14.
* Ebina is convinced to come out of her shell.

On top of the bonus volume, there will also be an anthology series with stories written by authors other than WW.
I'm looking forward to stories written from other character's perspective. Kawasaki-something, and Komachi especially.

It like... robs anything Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna was trying to say... then again, so does 02's epilogue.

I haven't even seen that yet, and it was released only a month before this series premiers. Literally two weeks ago.

I just... don't get what they're thinking. :???:

yeah, if they wanted to reboot the series, they should have released Kizuna AFTER the series, not beforehand, imo.

Nice sound design, also the meme that bad visuals "look like a video game" needs to die.

Olympia Kyklos Anime
I enjoyed Thermae Romae, so this might be fun as well... it's basically the same thing just with cooler animation. Don't change a winning team, I guess.
(also, lmao @ "Italian speaking Europe" so Tessin in Switzerland can't access it, while South Tyrol can?

I still think it looks awful, whether it looks like a video game or not. I'll stick with my 2D animation, thank you very much.

No arguing that it doesn't look great, I just want people to stop bringing up this argument, as it implies lower quality standards for art design in video games, inherently lessening their worth as an art form. Bad art design is bad art design, doesn't matter which medium.

I agree.

People probably bring up video games as an example because there aren't that many fully CG series, and even less well know ones, so they instead think of video games for a comparison. But in the age of the PS4 and what not associating games with bad CG is kind of dated.

Plus, you find it surprisingly often that game CG actually looks better than contemporary movie CG. For a somewhat.... infamous example, let me pull out Gundam G-Savior (an absolutely awful live action movie, that had a supposedly really good PS2 game)

This is because "bad CG" is most often noticed when it somehow breaks with visual expectations. GitS looked a certain way for a very long time now, so this break in convention feels wrong. Integrating Compuer Generated things in a Live Action movie is even harder to pull off, as the break in visual coherency is right there in one's field of view, whereas CG in a highly-stylized world of Computer Games is comparatively easy to pull off. (Don't wanna disparage CG-artists working in games just talking about retaining suspension of disbelief in the audience)
