Back from the excavation and it was really cool. I'd never dug in a roman city before(nor have most archaeologists) and it was a pretty awesome experience. There's going to be more excavations there in the next two years so I'll definitely be coming back to Balsa!

We also got mildly famous over there has the main Chanel of my country filmed us and several newspapers reported on us.

Pretty great time all around.

I recently acquired the original dub DVD set of Sailor Moon SuperS for only $56 from someone on facebook marketplace from Michigan. I'll be purchasing the Sailor Moon S DVD set for the same price from this person soon.

Also, a couple of months ago my favorite podcast did a Q & A episode and they answered my question and mentioned my name so I was somewhat internet famous.

Dumbass of the day:

If I'm exposing some goods at a model convention, and you mumble something to me which I don't understand, don't go explicitly miming a 4chan meme to me before telling me I should stop "looking cool" by building Japanese scale models when the meme concerned originates in an anime.

It will only make you look really stupid and yield no reaction from me except a grin and a "If you say so".

Other observation: Something with too much chrome gets lots of attention from small children under 10 and adults 40-60 yo. However, only the latter will actually touch it despite there being a note saying "do not touch" right in front of it.

Yesterday, me and pops went to Ginza Restaurant where I helped myself to some California Roll sushi which marked the first time I had ever eaten avocado. For the main dish, I ate seafood lo mein with the help of chopsticks that are kept bound in the top for those who are not experts in holding the traditional way.

Afterwards, we went to Walmart which we hadn't done in a long time due to the earthquakes and picked up Pulp Fiction on Blu Ray as well as X-Men Dark Phoenix on Blu Ray as well.

It's been about a year since this all went down, so I'll update you guys on this situation right here. I'm still friends with this woman, and we've become closer friends than I thought possible. We've spent a lot of our free time this past year making chalk drawings on the driveways of other friends of ours when they aren't looking. (I think that's technically vandalism, but it's only chalk and it's among friends, so I guess it doesn't count of they don't press charges? ) She's recently grown comfortable swearing around me, which is something she doesn't do around most of her other friends. (We're both Christians and have mostly Christian friends, so venting that something "fucking sucks ass" doesn't happen that often.)

Anywho, this friendship is part of what got me out of a several year long depression, and I'm glad that it happened the way it did. (Well, minus the part where I embarrassed myself in front of her two years ago.) I know better than to hinge my entire happiness on her or anything like that, but I think we're both making each other happy nonetheless, and I'm kinda proud of that accomplishment.

Tomorrow is my 32nd birthday. I already have cake in the fridge that I got from Valentine's day so that'll be a treat and I will be receiving gifts from loved ones in the mail. I hope to visit them very soon because it's usually once or twice a year that I get to share with them.

Last week the four-year-old motherboard of my main server (that's to say, the host running all my virtual machines) failed. It now turns off after three seconds without even a beep code to indicate why. I managed to buy a half-price "shop-soiled" replacement, and the server is working again (after a lot of work!).

But I researched the failure a bit, and found that it was a very common one, caused by a major programming error in the BIOS which was not fixed until a year after I'd put the board into service. Basically, there was a watch-dog timer routine which every time it was triggered would rewrite the flash memory holding the setup parameters. Quite simply, it was wearing out! Mine lasted longer than most, it seems. Some people said that they had managed to get replacement boards out of warranty, so I approached the manufacturer. They have today replied to say that my board is just two weeks inside their "extended" warranty! So it's going back under RMA, and I'll have a spare board to use for another server or something; probably a NAS.

You should be proud. From what I understand touring is hard work.

Last Monday I got in the mail the original dub of Sailor Moon S on DVD for only $56. I bought it from the same person I bought the SuperS DVD set from last year. Now if only I could find the 14 single DVDs by ADV of the Dic dub of Sailor Moon for a reasonable price...

I feel like everyone needs a bit of a break from the constant corona panic, so I'll do my part and share something small and unrelated - I've been able to track down something I've been wanting for a very long time for my birthday: The MSIA Lancelot Frontier from Code Geass R2

Received my copy of The Mighty Ducks live action first movie on Blu Ray in the mail today. I wanted to check it out specifically to hear if the original VHS end credits song by The Outfield called "Winning It All" was present and lo and behold, it was. That really made me happy because for some unspecified reason, the DVD version gives out two Queen songs "We Will Rock You" and "We Are the Champions", the latter of which was also used in the second movie end credits.
