Sabino's first Abbey Road was 35 years ago. My first work with the orchestra was 28 years ago when I was attracted to the credits of the masterpiece Slave to the Rhythm and asked for it. The former leader is the legendary Gavyn Wright. Current leader Perry Montague-Mason. Starting with a full orchestra today and going to this quartet #evangelion . Service service ぅ!

If you go to his account he's sharing a few other things and he's deep in collaboration with other artists at Abbey Road specifically for Eva Final.

This music is used for the trailers... Maybe a new one will come out soon?

Obvious to use Sagisus new compositions for FINAL for the Trailers. Same for 3.0 and Godzilla Resurgence. Later Trailers for the DVD/BD Release should be with the new theme song for FINAL sung by Udata like Sakura Nagashi for 3.0.
I carry out things right to the end. No. Matter. What.

Don't know if this was confirmed already, and it isn't too surprising given style and quality, but Anno edited the Rebuild summary:

There hasn't been any mention of a possible delay due to the virus thing, was there?

It's the main topic of discussion in the Release Date: June 27, 2020 thread.

None of the teams involved in the making of the movie have made any announcements yet and they are proceeding as if nothing is out of the ordinary but that's to be expected as it's their job as filmmakers and they need to be absolutely prepared and have a finished film ready in case everything works out for the best and the release date sticks.

People are hoping that Japan can somehow weather the coronavirus without being majorly effected because even though the country hasn't done much in the way of prevention up until a few days ago they've had so few cases - this is likely because they weren't testing but could also be due to a million other factors - but seeing as Japan's number of confirmed cases has more than quadrupled in the last five days I think the country and especially Tokyo, the most populated city on the planet, going into lockdown and shuttering all places for social gatherings like movie theaters is a guaranteed certainty at this point.

The movie will be released at some point. And if the opening sequence where Willie saved Paris is any indication of what the overall movie might be about, a story about people working to repair the world after a monstrous tragedy will be more timely, powerful and cathartic than ever.

If Japan were to go into lock down now, there'd be plenty of time yet for the film to come out. After about half a month, we are seemingly approaching the curve's peak in Spain. Let's see how long it takes for infections to stop altogether...

While your observation about the movie and how it will be relevant in current times is on point, I can't see the possibility of Shin Eva being delayed in a positive light. I feel a little defeated by my life at this point (because of things more important than a movie), I was looking forward to this year, Shin being delayed would just be the cherry on top.

If there's one good thing in all this it's seeing people collaborate a and be disciplined to stop the spread. Especially medical workers.
(Have actually gotten emotional looking at the news sometimes).

Jo Ha Q will be showed in 4K on NHK, the TV channel that debuted a Evangelion trailer for Q back in the days. NHK is also asking fans to vote for their favorite character, angel, Eva.

There is also some low resolution screenshot from AVANT1 on the website

So... Maybe they'll show something?
But The movies will be showned the 18th, 25th of April and the 2th of May. That would be too late to release a full trailer, for every standard.

The movies will air on April 18 (Jo), April 25 (Ha), May 2 (Q). There is also a retrospective on Eva in 3 parts on April 10 and 15. The poll results will be announced on May 16.

Also the 3 Eva related animations from the Japan Animator Expo are on the EVA-EXTRA app

So first of all, I really don't understand this desperation for a trailer, lol? Like what does one have to gain from ~1-2 movies of miscellaneous footage?
Second of all, why would that be too late? I personally think, AVANT will remain to be the only Trailer.

∆ You gotta drum up excitement.
Avant was great, but doesn't give you too much of an idea of what the general movie is. The short trailer we got last year shows some interesting footage, but it's still sort of vague. I think you need at least one "proper" trailer to be a sort of statement on what the film is (although to be fair EoE didn't have one in the traditional sense).

Even Q, which had such little marketing because it was trying to avoid showing anything of the timeskip, had the one minute "Wrath of God" trailer to set the mood and get people excited before release.

And also, we are giant Eva nerds. They could not release a single trailer, and we'd still watch the movie. But I think the more causal audience (the people who contribute to making these films so succesful, I don't know if they would do the same numbers if only the hardcore otaku went to see them, remember Q was the second highest grossing film of 2012 in Japan) right now might not even be aware that this film is coming, plus it's been so long since Q.

They need an attractive trailer that will be shared online, with some surprising/emotional component and some track of the OST. Those are the things that guarantee people will wanna go see your film. There's a reason everyone does it. And it should be some months before, to have a build up and make people excited, have time to find out about it, talk about it, etc.

I think it would make sense to follow the pattern of Shin Godzilla. One trailer that goes into the mood and establishes the tone and look of the movie. Then a trailer that goes a little more into specific scenes that you wanna see continued, without revealing too much, and some sort of surprise ("Oh shit Shin's nuclear breath is gonna be purple??").

Outside of the commercial function I think well done trailers can also improve the experience of watching the film. Mentally prepared having gotten a taste, you are in the right mindset. I at least like that. Although it's true that at this point we know Anno's style and all, but more casual audience members might not to the same extent.

Lastly, I think we will see Avant2 before the film comes out as well, right before release. I'm sure releasing Q's Avant that way was very effective, and I was surprised that we got Shin's opening scene a year before the film. I think we might see the second one (since the film does have two) days or a day before release. The first Avant was also sort of autoconclusive, while the second one might lead more directly into the rest of the film, which will also get you people wanting to see the film.

Edit: And outside of that hopefully well articulated justification for trailers...I just wanna get hype lol. Hear music from the film, see shots that I otherwise wouldn't get to see till who knows when, take screenshots, discuss the footage with others, etc. And trailers are works of art in themselves, and I am always more than happy to get more Anno-edited stuff.

I mean yeah, marketing is important...but the argument that they *need to drum up excitement so the normies will go watch it* rings kind of retarded to me. Like, unless you have stock in the movie, it doesn't really matter, if it's successful or not? Irregardless of that, why people are aware the film is coming, they'll be teasing it on Japanese television soon enough - and a Trailer a week ahead of release on YouTube will be soon enough for everybody to notice. Going to your local cinema isn't exactly an endeavor one would need to plan for weeks.

Also, if how they handled the franchise up until now is any indication, our Gaijin release date is still far off - so even if they drop a trailer a week after release, like they did for Q, it'll still be more than half a year prior to us being able to watch it either way.

And, maybe it's because I'm older, but I don't need artificial hype, especially when I still need to wait a few months to be able to see it. If the movie is good, it'll entertain me whenever I decide to watch it.

khara is an indipendent company, I personally care about the success of Shin Eva because it's fundamental for the the entire studio and future projects.

But I share your sentiment about not needing a new trailer, I personally feel like I've seen enough (possibly even too much already).

Yup, khara needs money. Art that doesn't need the casual crowd is limited to fanfics lol. One of the reasons Rebuild started to begin with is Anno wanted money for his studio and obviously Eva can do that. I also think those viewers can also learn something of value watching Eva and add and comment something of value. I think it's healthy if not only hardcore nerds watch these films, and the contrary would be kind of a waste tbh.

I'd just add that if movies didn't need trailers (more than one usually), reality would be pretty different. But as is, film studios, gaming companies and all media pretty much follows this pattern, so I guess it's pretty linked to human psychology. It's the pattern Shin Godzilla, Evangelion 2.0 followed and probably the one Shin will follow.

I don't think trailers are artificial entertainment either. They are mood piece representing the film in compressed form. There's a reason people often say "the trailer was better than the film", because that often is actually the case. Hell, they even have their own pieces of music, and in the case of Metal Gear Solid 2 are a part of the work (Vulcan Raven).

I still go back often to trailers that Anno edited because they are that good. The trailer for the Kare Kano BD is fucking amazing, and that wasn't even a trailer for something new, it was for something I'd already seen.

I guess I'm passionate about trailers, also for all those other reasons I wrote about, like getting you in the right mindset and stuff.

I don't feel we've seen much of Shin Eva either. I trust new trailers wouldn't "spoil" anything, and people who want to go in blind can choose to do so. I would obviously watch the movie as is, but I'd really appreciate one or two trailers.

And who am I kidding, my life is empty and I want soething to get excited about.
