SSSS Gridman was the second best kaiju/tokusatsu feature of the decade. Shin Godzilla in first place of course.

A few trivia from the final scene : the actress in the final scene is Sakanoue Akane; as well as the Trigger paraphernalia in her room, there is also the Japanese equivalent of a Barbie-doll, called Licca-chan. Now, how would you normally expect that name to be romanized?

Obi Masaya who played Naoto in the original also did some promo work for this series as well as making a cameo as himself

That's so fun! Also something interesting is that Licca-Chan is a Takara property who co-produced the original Gridman show. I haven't found anyone talking about this or Naoto's actor so I'm glad I can count on Evageeks to show me the good stuff. For something interesting that might have went over other people's head as an easter egg in the karaoke booth when one of the people on the date asks Akane if her Line icon is Baltan from the original Ultraman and she gets all annoyed is because the kaiju was actually Reguran from Ultraman Tiga. She was essentially getting mad at a "normie" for something pretty reasonable! Also all three of the youtubers are named after now defunct toy companies that had the Macross license at one time and all colored as "Jetfire" toys which was the Transformers toy that was just a recolor of valkyrie from Macross.

The director is the same, along with a bunch of other staff. That makes me really happy. Gridaman is one of my favourite Trigger anime, so them making more of it is great.

I guess they're trying to turn this into a franchise?

Pretty excited to see this not much to discuss except a few things that are spoilers

SPOILER: Show
Will this take place in the "real world?" I think it will be more like the tokusatsu than SSSS. If it comes back will we have a Gridman Sigma style situation where Akane works with the Gridman alliance in the real world to help them? I really love Akane so much so it would be great to see her reformed like Takeshi. Obviously Dyna Dragon is coming back so we'll probably see some equivalent of King Gridman.

SSSS Gridman was great. Fingers crossed that this new series will be just as good. If not better.

Instead of crossing fingers, shouldn't we be making the Baltan-gesture (i.e. index and middle finger together and ring and pinkie together)? ^_^

The show also has a metric crapton of Yuusha/Brave references (shows that were all sponsored by Takara). Full Powered Gridman turning gold, attacks, transformations, gattai sequences, color schemes, you name it.
