True story but I have had the X-Men Apocalypse DVD in my possession for three years and today I sat down and watched it for the first time from start to finish without reaching for the remote.

And how did I feel about the third entry in the official second X-Men trilogy? Much like how Return of the Jedi is memorable and has good action sequences but still can't top Empire Strikes Back, Apocalypse has all those goodies and yet has the burden of coming out of Days of Future Past's shadow. But I still found myself at the edge of my seat with anticipation of how will the situation right itself and the visuals really are grandiose. This is why I watch superhero movies, also to be inspired by the convictions that the two sides express in order to justify why they fight for their causes. Overall, I give it a 7/10.

“It's very much a point of view-driven, noir Batman tale. It's told very squarely on his shoulders, and I hope it's going to be a story that will be thrilling but also emotional. It's more Batman in his detective mode than we've seen in the films. The comics have a history of that. He's supposed to be the world's greatest detective, and that's not necessarily been a part of what the movies have been. I'd love this to be one where when we go on that journey of tracking down the criminals and trying to solve a crime, it's going to allow his character to have an arc so that he can go through a transformation.”

I’ve been hoping for a Batman movie focused on mysteries and detective work over the big save the city plots. I’m cautiously optimistic about this.

Swamp Thing has already been cancelled due to an *accounting error.* The production was promised a $40 million tax rebate and will receive only a $13 million rebate, and so the higher ups killed it in the cradle.

I haven’t seen the pilot yet but I was really hoping this would be good.

Swamp Thing could be made on $13 million, wtf is going on with these productions? Especially for these subscription exclusive titles, you don’t want to depend on old newspaper business models in order to recoup high business expenses.

Apparently the show is CGI heavy?

I’ve read a bunch of other news that makes it look like the DC app is going to fold or just be for comics. If this kills Young Justice *again* I swear on me mum.

They can't cancel it yet. They still have three series that are being developed: Stargirl, Harley Quinn, and Metropolis.

Is Metropolis some kind of street-view Superman show, or a Gotham prequel? I’d be really interested in the former, not so much in the latter.

I read “Metropolis” and I still think of either the Fritz Lang film or its Osamu Tezuka/Rintaro animated adaptation.

If the Superman version doesn’t include a mediator of the head to the hands being the heart, it’s gonna miss out on a lot of current economical commentary.

So I finally saw Venom honestly I don't get why the critics said this was a bad movie, like I thought the black comedy in it was halrious I like how venom was perfectly captured as this snarking asshole who you kind of grow to like despite his comments and I loved how they did the CGI him on screen and I think Hardy was perfect to play Eddy because he fits that kind of dark places guy but with a heart of gold.

SPOILER: Show
I also like that as he is merging with venom he's really sick and acting weird and hands down one of venoms funniest comments is "Outstanding. Now, let's bite all their heads off, and pile them up in the corner." and the your a loser I'm a loser plot line really works here since there going for the anti hero plot line from the comics and I am really interested for the sequel as I hate Carnage (Including the comic version the guys vile) and want to see venom create him by mistake then waste him. Like this is the venom I wanted in the Spiderman 3 but never got because Rami just had a huge misfire and misunderstood the character in a huge way along with Eddy.

Like the only weak plot line in this if you could call it that is the ex girlfriend plot because even the person I watched it with said when she finds out he stole her stuff she's not angry enough and her sudden ditching of Eddy feels far to left field because you got no under currents that anything was wrong in the relationship up to this point and even I felt that it needed those undertones and for her to get super pissed and to blow up when she looses her job.
Anywhere can be paradise as long as you have the will to live. After all, you are alive, so you will always have the chance to be happy.

If there's any problem with Venom is that's Eddie isn't *enough* of a fuckup. He shouldn't
SPOILER: Show
get back together with his ex at the end.

I look forward to
SPOILER: Show
Woody Harrelson as Carnage because... fuck lol why not.

So far, Venom is the only "superhero movie that takes a different direction from Marvel in the Marvel era" that has actually worked, besides *maybe* Deadpool. It's refreshingly joyful in its own stupidity. The stupid shit in comic books can be fun.

So, I watched the first four episodes of Swamp Thing.

It figures that It’s the best thing DC has put our live action wise and they killed it in the cradle.

Very well done series, and the creature effects are amazing.

And the rest...

EDIT...
What If? will be animated.
Zemo confirmed for Falcon & Winter Soldier and he will have his classic mask.
Fu Manchu is Shang Chi's father in the comics so they are just having The Mandarin stand in for him.

Unclear if it's for a show or movie.

The second trailer for HBO's Watchmen - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1yKq1PRvPJQ

Love the details in there with Robert Redford being listed at the school as the post Nixon President and the drawing of the squid.
Don Johnson's character has a lot going on with him, he is the chief of police + possibly being involved with the Rorschach cult judging by him going tick tock in the last teaser and here he is flying Nite Owls's ship either by police confiscation or he is actually Dan.

3 episodes into The Boys and fucking loving it. The total antithesis of the MCU and a huge middle finger to the over-saturation of superhero media. Plus, Karl Urban.

Anyone watching any of the Arrow-verse Dc shows? I haven't but the upcoming Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover has me intrigued by the returning cast from previous Dc movies and shows.
Brandon Routh (superman returns) will return as a Kingdom Come style Superman.
SPOILER: Show

Tom Welling & Erica Druance will be returning as their versions of Clark & Lois from the Smallville tv series.
Kevin Conroy (the extremely iconic voice of batman in most animation since the 90s) will play a crippled Kingdom Come style Bruce Wayne.

Wonder Woman 1984 trailer - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfM7_JLk-84

For Me...
Pros
- Wigg looks good and is giving me Vera Farmiga vibes.
- The white house fight looks to be well choreographed.
- Flashbacks to the Amazon competitions looks cool.
- The lassoing lightning bolts is a really preposterous idea even for comics but the effects sold it from the bit shown.
- Pascal is selling it on the commercials.

Cons
- The Gold outfit looks ok but the wings look extremely cheap. They really should have CGI-ed them.
- The wishing stone is the most "really?" manner of going about Cheetah's story I could think of, usually it's some dark human sacrifice cult stuff or epic god figure giving her her curse/powers. I worry they are making it too safe.
- The 80s music really doesn't fit near the end of the trailer.
- On a personal level I don't care for the Trump call outs with Maxwell's appearance and the the shot of a wall being destroyed (in the leaks it's some dictator/king who wished for his city/country to be safe)

Pros from outside the trailer
- I can't find the article this second but I saw that Jenkins confirmed that Cheetah would be a mix of practical and CGI. Which is for the best considering how awful the entirely CGI cat people look in the Cats trailer.

Cons from outside the trailer
- It's just really not what I wanted from this movie at all. When I heard it would have Cheetah and set in the 80s I was picturing Diana fighting the Soviets and tracking Cheetah through deep jungle among ancient temples Indiana Jones style. And I had hoped that Diana and Minerva would have been friends for a long time and she would be really sympathetic like in the recent comics but from the leaks it seems...
SPOILER: Show
she becomes a villain purely out of petty jealousy.

===

Birds of Prey trailer from last month - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kGM4uYZzfu0

Pros
- Glad it seems to have kept the Suicide Squad visual style.
- Happy with Mew being in the film.
- Obi Wan seems to be having a lot of fun.

Cons
- Black Mask has no Black Mask (supposedly this has been fixed in re shoots), none of the characters look anything like their comic counterparts in almost anyway. Harley's outfits are deep trash. There is no excuse for not at the bare minimum using her iconic colors in some way, she looks like a crazy cat lady that fell into a confetti factory.
- HATE what they have done with Cassandra Cain.
- They are pushing Harley front and center and the other characters got zero spotlight.

Harley Quinn is basically DC's Deadpool at this point, they'll market her to the end of the earth.

I'd say Harley Quinn is more DC's Iron Man. The fan-favorite character with the right name actor bringing them to life that they can literally put into any of their films to boost a films appeal. She can be the focus of the film, or she can be a co-lead or a key supporting role or just a cameo and audiences will go see it for her. Kinda like how Marvel has just thrown Robert Downey Jr into one movie a year every year since 2015 (and will next year in Black Widow) so they can put his face on the poster. With Birds of Prey in 2020, THE Suicide Squad in 2021, a potential Gotham City Sirens film AND sequels, etc after that I doubt Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn won't show up in theaters at least once a year for the foreseeable future.

Deadpool is ... he brings such meta-baggage that he can't fit naturally into every type of film.
