Honestly losing my mind right now.

Hopefully we can all see it. I don't wanna know what happens through comments (I won't read them, but sometimes you accidentally see something I dunno).

This is so hype that no human language could possibly make it justice.

(1) This is a longer clip than they released before Q, which I suppose could hint at a longer film (no surprise there, of course, as there's so much to include).

(2) For Q there were trailers before we got a clip, as I recall; I wonder why the difference.

(3) To me this is pointing towards a release very early in 2020.

(4) I guess that from the end of next week my little fanfic will no longer have any relevance...

Any story a reader feels was worth their time, regardless of continuity is relevant in some way. At least, in my opinion

Just speculation:

For a trailer you need the film to be almost finished, you take bits and pieces from all throughout the project.

Khara's social media stuff (specifically how they have chosen to record voice acting) seems to indicate they have given priority to doing at least some things in movie order (to make marketing like this possible?).

I think it's likely that while the beginning of the film is done, later parts are still in earlier states of production (I still think this movie won't release later than summer 2020).

So they might not be able to make a trailer yet (which they usually release like two months before the release of the film, from looking at some of the production books I have sometimes they'll still be giving final touches to designs six months before a film comes out (mostly refering to 1.0 here though)).

It hurts a little knowing how much time will pass between me seeing the first minutes (if this gets released online lol) and seeing the film (bluray launch), but the excitement is so much bigger.

Ahh, you were refering to trailers like that too.

In that case, I guess what they are doing now is a more exciting "first big reveal" than that sort of teaser (though we might get more of those when they want to give us more info but hide movie footage).

More thoughts:
Usually khara was super secretive. I think this is meant as a gift since the wait was so long.
They didn't need to do it but I'll gladly accept it lol.

Also, remember the photo of Anno's script with his notes.
There are two AVANTS.
I think AVANT2 might be revealed right before the film comes out, to get that excitement as with Q.

Since they have two AVANTS, they probably thought they could release both and release one much earlier as a sort of gift.

But it would surprise me if the second one doesn't come out too since that generated such hype around Q right before the film.

Megumi Ogata comments on this. Her last recording was still part B. And she has not seen the final version of the AVANT.
Seems we will all be able to watch this on the app!!!

Now the mega late Spring Netflix release makes more sense, coupled with this huge news bomb and the new Blu-Ray release in Japan they really want to kick of the marketing for Shin, now!
Also Khara's decision to go for Netflix to utilize their inherent global reach coupled with the fact they'll screen avant on worldwide locations and in the app m takes me hope they'll maybe won't let the world wait a year before we can see the movie? #fingerscrossed

Well that was unexpected. Still calling July 2020 for the full movie, that's when Toho likes to release it's big blockbusters. (Godzilla, Your Name, Mirai, In You this year).

It's weird to have AMAZING NEWS on a Monday morning but I'll gladly take it!

No idea what the almost 11 minutes of footage shown will be. My best guess is it will be the scene from the first teaser which looks like a big action setpiece where WILLIE is attacked by NERV minutes after the end of 3.0 and have to throw together a haphazard rig so their one partially functioning Evangelion (Unit 8) can act as defense. But it could be ANYTHING really.

Either way this news got me listening to the score for Evangelion 3.0 on my walk to work and now I'm anticipating the opportunity to hear a new Shiro Sagisu banger piece of music or two in just under two weeks!

Like @hui43210 I'm leaning towards a Summer 2020 release being the most likely case as well. Only reason Toho wouldn't want to make it their big July summer release is to avoid the Tokyo Olympics OR despite some hints saying otherwise that Studio Ghibli & Hayao Miyazaki will actually make their original goal and have How Do You Live? ready for a summer 2020 release.

The idea of just putting out the start of your new feature by way of advertisement seems to be a new fashion -- the first 10 minutes of the GaruPan Das Finale 2 film went up on the Bandai Namco channel a few days ago, and there was a similar intro for next season's anime Granbelm out a few weeks ago.

I would be cautiously optimistic about this officially appearing on YouTube soon after the initial premiere.

It will definitely appear on YouTube quite soon after the premiere, one way or the other.

Sounds like Khara is going to make it readily available not too long after the premiere. Might even be at the same time.
They've been fighting piracy since Day One and were not happy the original Evangelion 3.0+1.0 trailer being leaked online before they released it officially.

Yeah, I think the past year has taught them the realities of modern technology, stuff is always going to get online. It's a fact Japanese companies still seem to have difficulty grasping from what I can tell.

Going by the image of Anno's notes written over his script some months ago, AVANT1 seems to feature at least Shinji and Asuka, while AVANT2 (not included here) would probably be centered on Wille.
Who knows what will happen though.
I don't even think I could predict the tone.

Starting to worry that we might not get to see the scene. At first I understood it as "this will be streamed through the app", but maybe not.

This is the beginning 10 minutes of my most anticipated film ever, so I won't read other's impressions or watch a camrip.
Hopefully it does come out for everyone. Would be incredibly exciting.

Nah... It will be Decisive battle arrangement #174...

The opening scene will be Asuka and ReiQ arguing while Kare Kano music plays. They stop only to discover Shinji missing.

3.0 is possibly my favorite Eva entry, a follow up to that, finally. Can't wait.
