I'm thrilled to hear this because I just might have to pick the standard Bluray Box up on the chance Netflix's Eva streaming won't include a physical Western release down the line. (Rewatched Eva enough times that I should mostly do fine without subtitles, lol.)

On Twitter there's been talk of how various Netflix-streamed anime labelled with "Netflix Original" never did get a physical release before Netflix's license streaming lapsed, so I'm pretty concerned :( (Eva's incredibly important to me for various reasons, a large part of that being y'all, so owning a bluray release of the series + EoE included would be wonderful.)

As an aside—why the hell wasn't the dub cast announced before the upcoming streaming release? And is it possible that dub cast replacements are related to ongoing voice actor strikes? A non-Eva dub example: Seemingly Steve Burton isn't Cloud anymore (for FFVII Remake; his Twitter bio no longer lists the character) alongside other cast members getting replaced, so dub fans there are worried.

I would have thought that at least by now, with less than a month until the release, Netflix would have given at the very minimum a press release or a teaser with a taste of the new English dub, or announce who had been cast to build up more hype. It's very odd that there continues to be be total radio silence

This isn't the only strange anime-related thing happening with Netflix recently: Anohana and Angel Beats were supposed to premiere on the platform in the US on June 1st. It's now June 4th and they're still not there. People have been alerting them via Twitter, and the only response from them (posted on their Netflix Customer Service Twitter handle) says something vague about them not having the license, which doesn't make any fucking sense because Netflix themselves announced that both series would be premiering in the US on June 1st, along with some other stuff.
Among the people who use the Internet, many are obtuse. Because they are locked in their rooms, they hang on to that vision which is spreading across the world. But this does not go beyond mere ‘data’. Data without analysis [thinking], which makes you think that you know everything. This complacency is nothing but a trap. Moreover, the sense of values that counters this notion is paralyzed by it.

And so we arrive at demagogy. - Hideaki Anno, 1996

Ugh, that just makes me doubly worried that the suits in charge don't know what the hell they're doing

I don't think there is too much to be concerned about. I imagine we'll probably get something fairly soon and the overall release will be great quality. I'm kinda surprised at the lack of press/communication but I don't foresee it being a bad release.

I just meant more in terms of late releases, but yeah, I don't think the dubbing will be any "worse" than ADV's  Like with my FFVIIRemake trailer example: the voices sounded similar enough to my ears that I thought it was simply different ADR direction until former English VAs like Steve Burton implied they're not reprising their roles.

Eva will be released on June 21st. I don’t know much about those other series but that def sounds like Netflix goofed up on those two by announcing releases before contracts were finalized. Doh.
But Eva they put out a trailer in 2018 saying they had the series & they ran a whole gimmicky countdown a few months ago just to announce the release date.
It will be released on June 21st.
That or Netflix is in even more trouble than I’ve heard.

Anywho, I could see Netflix announcing who is in the new English dub (if there is one) the week of release. That or they just won’t and everyone will find out on the 21st.

Anohana and Angel Beats are a regional issue. They are already available in other regions.
Eva is worldwide and I'm sure that's set in stone.

On the subject of dubs, I don't think I've EVER seen Netflix release that info for an anime until they just drop it on the release date and you read the credits. So as far as I'm concerned, this is business as usual.
I mean, predictability is the central attraction and the narrative hook that we've all come to expect from the Evangelion franchise. How come Anno can't realize this? Twice? - FreakyFilmFan4ever

I'm seeing people tweeting that it'll be called a Netflix Original?
Apparently there was a list released by forbes that called it that, but is Netflix really the source of that list?

EDIT:
The show has a pic set up already (I can see it on my Netflix phone app).
No NETFLIX logo on that.

EDIT2: Ohhhh boy.

Teaser with ita sub: https://youtu.be/u4S3kabp-jI

to note that for the first time in an official version (for Italy) the term "Apostles" is used instead of "Angels". Someone who lives in US or UK can check how they are indicated?

When you compare with my Platinum subs link below the trailer tweet, Netflix's translation is different. Is it a pre-Platinum DVD translation by ADV (another poster seemed to imply so?) because I'll be personally disappointed at the laziness if so. I wanted a re-translation, damnit!

EDIT: I tried searching through Netflix on my TV and couldn't see any signs of Eva listed as a "Netflix Original" (or much of anything on it, since it's not uploaded yet)

Netflix doesn't care what you think of the quality of what you're watching on Netflix. They just care that you're watching Netflix.

And just a through I had, I'll have a little giggle if it turns out there is no new English dub and this entire debacle started because a lie Amanda Winn-Lee told in hopes of creating an online swell of support behind her so she could retake the role of Rei Ayanami back from Brina Palencia just snowballed out of control because the Internet.

∆ With German and Spanish redubs coming, I'm sure it's likely an English one is actually coming too.

As probably obvious by my tweet I don't own the DVDs myself, but looking at the digitally recreated VHS subtitles or whatever they're called (as well as another ADV version I'm not sure of), it doesn't seem to be their translation. I'd say the person who responded to me thinking that was what it was was just making an assumption rather than a comparison.

Misato's "Do we have a go?" sticks out to me as rather odd phrasing, but it's such a small sample I don't feel apt to judge it. It doesn't look like the ADV subs (unless it is and I'm just stupid), so EoE still has a chance on not being translated poorly. I do have to worry a little about how quickly all of this is being prepared, but it is a giant company so perhaps I'm just being paranoid.

I feel slightly relieved regarding retranslation:

That said, I halfway expected maybe Khara especially would've gotten Dan Kanemitsu to translate the subs/approve the script (that "Do we have a go?" odd phrasing does stick out!) since they were so heavily involved with Funi's 3.0 release considering those screwups. Oh, well.

Netflix may be the one streaming Eva worldwide, but this very obviously is a publicity stunt by Studio Khara to drum up interest + Shin Eva hype.

I'm confused. Did I miss something? Which part hints that Khara is using Netflix to hype up Shin Eva?

For me at least, I remember Studio Khara's Twitter(s) posting about Netflix's NGE multiple countries streaming before the news dropped in English.
