Asuka forced to confront the apparent contradiction between her feelings for Kaji and her relationship with Shinji. IMHO that was one thing about Re-Take that I think they could have spent more time on.

That's a very good point regarding re take and I'd never thought about that as a crush like that doesn't always go away and in the series its not what I'd call a healthy crush ether since she leaving messages about people sexually harassing her on his phone just to get attention, so I'm really curious where your comic will go with that.

Starting Chapter 21 now. I did a chapter outline for the remaining chapters and I can say that the final chapter will be 25, possibly 26. Is it too soon to get sentimental??

Congrats on regaining some of that fire and seeing this through...I got worried a while there, but I'm happy to see that this is finally happening

Thank you! I fear a lot of people probably thought it was down for good. But after so many years of work I needed that break. Hopefully as the chapters roll out I will continue to hear from old friends. As I was remarking just this morning to a friend on DA, it feels REALLY good to be back in steady production again.

The whole Vegas story arc took a huge toll on me. Most of my burnout comes from that. IIRC I actually cranked out the 130+ page Chapter 17 in about ONE MONTH. That's unprecedented. But I was on fire back then. I was so motivated by the humor of Chapter 17 and all those little moments that I just burned through it (and myself LOL).

The result of that was huge delays for Chapter 19 and even worse for 20. Finally, I was just.... ready.

Well, it's really great that you came back seeing as so many fan fics get started, and just come and go without the author ever returning...It's kind of sad actually.

I dunno I'm kind of weird in that I get a bit melancholy over that sort of thing...Maybe Ive just been an Eva fan for too long ha ha ha

Anyway, this is a nice change of pace and bucking of that trend in a refreshing way

Just popping my head in to let readers know that Chapter 21 is mostly done! Did scene 4 this week. One more major scene, a couple of fragments and we'll be ready to read!

I'm also doing those edits/revisions to Chapter 2 at last to clean up some of the worst art moments the comic has had so I can think about campaigning again to bring new readers to the comic.

The new chapter is all wrapped up and just waiting to be 'shipped out'.

I also finally fixed some of the art from Chapter 2 that I really hated the most. As you can see from this comparison


Most of the pages are not affected but the ones that are... were really the worst.

I have installed these changes in the Smackjeeves chapters already. Getting ready to launch the Reddit thread as well as duck webcomics later this week/weekend.

Great new chapter, sweet but also kinda sad. Each pilot has someone they can rely on, but they all also know that they could die on this mission. My favorite part is probably the talk between Rei and Hiryu. I swear, you almost made me cry with that!

Looking forward to the next chapter (and not just for the Mari/Kelly fanservice), whenever it may come!

Right now, I'm pacing myself hoping to coincide the final chapters with the release of the last Re-Build movie. Over the years of working on this comic I have observed that the time around the release of a Re-Build movie is one of great activity in the fandom. Everyone is coming to places like this, DA, Pixiv etc. looking to share or see fan art. This period typically lasts from the release of the first trailers until the release of the film on US DVD. That can be many months. During that time, I plan to crank out the last few chapters of EVA-303.
