Yay, terror attack :(

I wonder whether our moron didn't know the difference between Zeeland (the Dutch province) and New Zealand (the country in the Pacific which is indeed named after the province).

I am worried that I may have a severe porn addiction in terms of not only spending too much time on the computer watching it but also because I watch it frequently, the prospect of having sex now bores me since nothing shocks me anymore since I first discovered it all those years ago.

Robersora is right. Having sex is a much more sensory experience than simply masturbating to porn, so that is one thing to keep in mind.

Do you currently have a girlfriend/boyfriend or a FWB-type situation where you can safely and freely satisfy your sexual urges? If not, then watching porn to make up for that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. We’re all sexual creatures by nature. But then again, I don’t know how much porn-watching is “severe” by your standards.

If you genuinely feel that your porn-viewing habits are significantly affecting the rest of your life in a negative way, then you should probably seek a therapist to help with your situation.
Among the people who use the Internet, many are obtuse. Because they are locked in their rooms, they hang on to that vision which is spreading across the world. But this does not go beyond mere ‘data’. Data without analysis [thinking], which makes you think that you know everything. This complacency is nothing but a trap. Moreover, the sense of values that counters this notion is paralyzed by it.

And so we arrive at demagogy. - Hideaki Anno, 1996

Nope, not even when I was younger and had plenty of options in school but I was too busy whining about being bullied to notice.

Therefore, I have yet to experience the act of making love with anybody be it woman or man. I do consider myself bisexual since both genders have gotten me curious and would be down to experiment. Just remember to always use a condom.

I know this is going to sound trite, but your situation is probably more common than you think, and the only way that you can seek to solve that is by putting yourself out there and partaking in social activities. As something of an introvert myself, I know how hard that sounds, but it doesn’t prevent it from being true.

Join a local club, volunteer somewhere, make it a point to try to put yourself in situations where you’re socializing with more people to possibly develop some kind of relationship with them ( be it simple acquaintance, friend, or possibly a romantic partner).

Or you could try dating apps if you felt comfortable with that.

I’ll also reiterate what I said in my previous post because this is very important: if you genuinely feel that your porn consumption is negatively affecting the rest of your life, seek a therapist. Speak to someone who is qualified to handle these types of issues.

This. But don't take up an activity simply to try to find someone; take it up to do something you'll enjoy (or think you will). If you're involved with an activity, you will naturally come into contact with others, and your being interested in the same thing already starts to provide a link, and increases your value as a friend - or more, but that may come later so don't push it.

Or you could try dating apps if you felt comfortable with that.

I have seen these lead to two happy marriages (one my daughter). But in both cases they already had experience of relationships and of how they can go wrong, so they were less likely to be fooled into a bad situation than someone without that experience. Think tool, not panacea.

A couple of days ago there was a celebration in Coimbra related to their academic week. Since my sister is studying there, she thought we should go to her, watch the festivities and then bring her back with us, since she has no classes all week. Made sense.

From my time in Évora I knew that the particular event my sister was going to participate in was going to be a mess. The idea is that each course in the university makes an allegorical car(more of a truck, but you get the idea), dresses it all up, stock up with maddening amounts of beer and then go through a planned path through the city. Then there are concerts at midnight. I didn't go to this event back when I was at Évora because my friends described it has "Another day of drinking, but with cars". This being Coimbra, I assumed it was going to be like that, but on a larger scale. My expectations were low. They were not low enough.

My sister didn't really want to go in the first place, she drinks very little. But, her friends insisted, so she thought about just going with it for a couple of ours and then leaving. We would watch only in the beginning, leave to find our hotel and then return to her when she was done.

It started of bad. The space where the cars started was in the university and there was not enough space for all the cars(around 70 or so). Beer was raining down from the cars regularly and none of us was finding it particularly funny. Anyway, my sister got next to the car, not in, because, hear this, you had to PAY to go to the car. This is specially ridiculous because my sisters course only has around 20 people and the all would have fit in with no problems.

Anyway, we leave her, the cars start moving(very slowly) and we go to find the hotel. We do that, and minutes after my sister calls saying she had enough, witch meant she lasted a little over an hour, far more than I could bear.

We go to her and realize that the quickest road there is now blocked by a mass of people, cars and beer. We go around for most of the path but eventually reach a road we must go trough. It was awful. The entire road and sidewalks(this was not a small road) was covered in beer, making the floor sticky. In every wall, everyone was pissing, and said piss flowed to the street to join the even larger flow of beer. Here and there, people vomited.
Incredibly, the town, children and old people were all watching, the old people having brought small seats for the show. I saw old women asking for beer next to the students. Little kids were washed by beer and other alcoholic beverages. Small groups of gypsies, drug addicts and a few others were going around stealing and grouping the girls. I saw people shitting themselves next to the police, they didn't care. What were the cops going to do, arrest everyone?

We manage to cross this mess and reach our sister. She was drenched in beer and had a miserable mood. We led her home, as we were only going to leave the next day.

Foolishly, we thought that by the time we got to the awful street again, the worst would have passed. We were wrong. The street was now even more covered in piss and beer. Not even half the cars had passed yet. I saw a guy barely able to stand but still somehow with enough madness and energy in him to try to make a joint. Not a meter away from him was a girl pissing herself, I mean, I hope she was only pissing.

After what felt like an eternity we reached the hotel, a pretty 19th century building that had clearly not been extensively renovated since the 70's, but, you know, at that point that didn't matter. From our window we could see a small corner where hundreds of people went to piss and vomit while we were paying attention. The sirens of the police and ambulances made for an odd lullaby. Before the party was even over, there were already cleaning crews washing and cleaning the streets. The next day the scent of beer and piss still lingered.

But, despite all this, everyone was happy. Most people in Coimbra must be the happy sort of drunk because they all helped each other in a drunken manner. And even those not drunk seemed happy. The cleaning crews were laughing and chatting as they cleaned the mess.

If there is anything you should take from this miserable story it's this: Don't visit Coimbra during the academic week. Coimbra is a really pretty town, and it deserves being appreciated and explored when it doesn't smell like a cocktail of piss, beer and shit.

FML and may the cleaning crew that dealt with that crap be blessed by all the gods I can think of.

Sound like my university town on their local celebration day - best avoided by anyone who has any common sense, values their rest, and/or thinks it's abnormal to have to wade through a layer of 15-30 cm of garbage mixed with vomit the next day :cringe: .

For the first time in several years, I visited the Hot Topic in my nearest mall and while the CDs are long gone, the shirts are everywhere. But unfortunately, the anime shirts never seem to be in my size which is 2XL. I went ahead like a dummy knowing I have to return it but bought it anyway, a Cowboy Bebop XL shirt that I really liked when I could've spent the bills on a cool System of a Down 2XL shirt. Also, I have to fucking find a way to exercise more routinely because the walk back really played a number on my spine and hips.

Ironically, taking a daily walk (of at least half an hour continuously) is good exercise.

But usually being overweight is a combination of bad food choices and too little exercise, bar certain rare genetic disorders. I know quite some people who exercise, but keep on eating the same crap or buy into the advertisements for "healthy" high-fat food  and therefore don't get much thinner.

Been feeling a bit down lately. Was starting to feel a bit overwhelmed with work and school and felt like everything was just piling up on me. I'm glad the semester is over, but work is still stressful. I am currently working 2 part time jobs, one as a custodian where I will be starting my 14th year in July and the other in a small grocery store in my hometown. The custodian one is stressful because they ask a lot from us and no one ever seems grateful or satisfied with the work I do, I work in a school and I feel like I'm being looked down on by teachers and students and honestly I leave work feeling worthless. I've been wanting to leave that job for years but Everytime I try, someone usually talks me out of it, saying look how many years you've been there, and think about retirement, so with every year I stay it gets harder for me to leave. My other job I work as a stocker/cashier at a small grocery store and I can hands down say we have the worst customers and since it's a small town it's the same people every day. I wish I could leave this job, the hard part about leaving this one is that my uncle is the manager. And I just feel like I'd be letting him down if I quit. The crazy thing about this one to is that I've been employed with the company since 2003 and even when I wasn't working there I was sort of always on call to close a shift or open a weekend shift. This was one of the reasons I started going back to school. I never thought I would but I just got fed up with the custodial job I figured might as well try and aim higher in the school district and hopefully be able to move up having 13 years with them doesn't hurt either. I just hate staying up in bed regretting mistakes I've made, I know I have a lot to live for like my son and wife, but it seems with every passing day I just feel worse and worse like I'm just going through the motions of living and not actually enjoying it....well sorry for the long rant but it did help a bit to get this off my mind

You need to get out of there. You've been helping them out for over a decade and all it's done is wear you down. Don't let them talk you out of it this time.

Feeling so depressed because the prospect of choosing which convention to go to whether local or USA is driving me insane. This always happens every year when a con is near and idk if the stress it gives me is worth it.
