Trivia corner. In 1984, while a prince, the new Emperor designate of Japan was at Oxford University. During that time he apparently sang in the chamber choir which I also sang in (the same one I sing in again now, in fact), and I made a recording of the choir in which it is likely that he took part.

Just to reinforce that, here's me at school on prize-giving day. The little medal hanging on my chest is the prize. The mortarboard is for special occasions. But the suit (you can't see the pin-stripe on the trousers) with wing collar was daily uniform wear, and the gown (which went with a particular type of scholarship) was worn to all lessons.

At university I was more normal (though we still had to wear gowns to lectures, even in the Engineering department), and in this picture I am just wearing gray trousers, a sports jacket and (that day) a black shirt. Why I taken my sandals off, I don't recall - probably just to be perverse...

Tonight, I forgot to pull up the sun screens on my balcony. When I went to do that, I noticed something fairly large flapping around under the screens. First I thought it was some kind of big moth, but only when it almost smacked me in the face I realised it was a freaking bat! Yay wildlife! :D About 15 cm long I guess.

Missing a bat icon here...

I got the promotion at work that I've been ferociously fighting to get for two and a half years now. With this I now have a full-time role and a strong position to go from an hourly role to leadership in the next few years. I'll be working in the Magic Kingdom park proper in Fantasyland as a merchandise coordinator. Basic idea in simplest terms is me and a few others like me run the entire land store-wise while the actual leaders do more important things (still shrouded in mystery lol). Crazy amount of responsibility but also crazy fun, hectic, challenging, and rewarding; never a dull day and I also get more control of my schedule.
Please just call me Ian, "TheFrisky" is more of a title.
