I think it was huge at some point, but the Hikari actress thing was the big surprise to me.
Seeing this was exciting, but felt like the logical next reveal.
I was 99% sure they would be in.
(It could have gone either way though, Hikari is alive and the others died. And maybe that is actually the case. In the end we don't know.)

Man, I'm pretty excited even for this small chart. I was already expecting Hikari, Toji and Aida to appear in the film.
They're probably the ones who will show Shinji hope.

I had a showerthought: more characters are in the movie the longer it should be (in theory), I bet it's going to be a ≃2 hours movie like 2.0.

There's something called (in Germany) 4-eyes control. Have somebody do something, have somebody else control it (I mean, I guess most of you know this). It's normal to make mistakes. If this was one person in charge, that is almost unavoidable.

This is assuming it's not a stunt (seems less likely now).

I personally don't care that much, if it's an intentional marketing move to gauge the impact of a calculated "leak" on social media, or a rookie mistake leveraged for marketing after recognizing they won't be able to cover it up any longer anyways. Given how tight their information control was up until now (remember how nobody so Q coming?) I kinda doubt it was a mishap.
Just consider: They brought attention to the tweet with two follow ups before deleting it. Also, it's just obscured enough to not give anything concrete away, besides the fact that, yeah. There are designs for characters who weren't confirmed dead yet. Either way, I'm glad that the hype train will slowly start moving now. Choo Choo.

Just an FYI for anybody trying to read into the lack of expected color tones (on Rei and Asuka, for example): khara does seem to create a version of character settei that has shading in flat gray and that's basically it. You can see some of these in the Q theater booklet. For mass-printed height charts, not including color makes sense, as it's an unnecessary expense.

^ That would lead me to believe the leak was an internal distribution only chart that wasn't meant to be shared, but was anyway most likely to drum up some publicity.

If we were supposed to see it it would have been in full color.

I didn't suggest that either. Of course Anno is aware of and has control over the social media representation of his own company. (How else do you think those leaked images got deleted?) I'm just saying that he's not the one running around with the iPhone uploading everything himself. He's actually making a movie right now, and literally doesn't have time to micromanage every single thumbprint and finger tap that goes into his company's social media accounts.

Sure, he's aware of the Wendy's twitter, and is obviously okay with it, but he has other things to do with his Fortune 500 company than tweet at anime posts on Twitter 24/7. That's what other people are hired to do. Same thing's true with Studio Khara and their social media presence.

I can see Anno personally taking/posting some of pictures shared honestly. I'm also sure he (or some other director) has to approve the pictures.

We’re talking about an entire country that still doesn’t believe in business emails. Whatever online presence any of them have is entirely in its experimental stages. I’m sure they have supervision, I just don't know how closely that supervision is monitored by the company’s very own President and CEO.

I mean, shit, for all we know Anno could have posted the leak himself and the Social Media Manager decided to delete it. (And then the Social Media Manager had a sit-down talk with Anno about how Anno should be focusing on the production instead of spending all day updating Twitter.)

Intentional or not, what do you think the leak implies for 3.0+1.0?

Personally I'm now expecting the movie to cover at least a few weeks of in universe events. Mari fights something while the pilots walks towards "the place", then Shinji is re united with Misato and he's shocked to see the now adults Toji, Kensuke and Hikari (Gunbuster feels) and they have at least a few days of in universe time to spend together before Shinji has save/doom the Earth.

I'm just saying that the social media marketing is all very experimental. Honestly, much of the motivation behind Khara's second Twitter account seems to be more to ease the nerves of fans patiently waiting for a sequel with updates evidencing the production's existence, and not a marketing technique in any way whatsoever. Remember, the fully animated teaser was dropped on us with little-to-no Twitter warning at all. Khara's Twitter isn't a "build hype" kinda twitter inasmuch as it's a "We're working on the movie, we promise" kinda twitter. Marketing gimmicks seem wasted on it. The problem is that we as Westerners are used to the Wendy's hottakes as alternate marketing, so we easily confuse Khara's twitter to be for some kind of marketing as well. Even the Japanese Eva blog says it's a mistake, and we as Westerners read (intentionally or not) some kind of sarcasm in that statement due to our own Western cultural background.

I have no idea how Japanese people actually treat companies and studios on Twitter, so I don't know what the proper read on any of their reactions would be. I'm not saying that Japanese Eva belongs aren't being sarcastic when they parrot Khara's "admission" of an "honest mistake," but if our relationship with Western Twitter is all we have to base our assumptions on, when we're really off base no matter what.

I just really wouldn't put it past Anno to try something new - this small account would be the perfect testing ground for Avantgarde marketing either way, wouldn't it.
But lets see if there's gonna be any fallout from the account's actions... Like if it doesn't post any longer, ok. That would be a sign for someone getting fired over a contractual breach.

Here's the thing—mistake with the leak or not, even if somebody was/is fired (especially one of Khara's social media people) would we even know? I'd think it'd be done quietly to avoid making a big deal about all this.

KharaInc2 RT'd an old photo of Anno and Sagisu (among other random RTs) in the past few days, but there definitely hasn't been anymore "interesting details we're sharing with you" uploads since their apology.

Even the apology thread seems to have been deleted now...
All the tweets related to/acknowledging the incident have been scrubbed from the account.
