Well the next major anniversary for EVA is in what, 2020 with their 25th anniversary. I hope its not that long of a wait, although it could be.

I don't think there's any particular reason to expect a release date later than Q4 2018, or at least I hope there isn't one.

Why would they put something out on April 1st? Is there some event or special occasion?

April 1st is apparently the start of the fiscal calendar in Japan. So it seems its when a lot of studios make their major announcements to give businesses, investors and fans a heads up of what to expect over the immediate future. April 1st, 2015 was when Toho suddenly announced Hideaki Anno & Shinji Higuchi were directing a new Godzilla movie. To the best of my memory I don't think anyone was expecting that because no hint had even been dropped.

Also, NHK has been doing a weekly run of the original Neon Genesis Evangelion on TV for over half a year now & are airing End of Evangelion on March 31st with the film ending at some point after midnight on April 1st. It seems suspect that they just "accidentally" started a 28 week run of classic NGE that also happens to end on the biggest announcement day of the year.

The stars are aligned for something... or nothing... and in the end I think it's very cute that all of us (me included) are hoping for a major announcement.

What would be "very dark" about the absence of a surprise announcement? Personally I'm expecting an announcement in the late summer or autumn regarding release in mid to late 2018.

At first I was going to say that it's best to not post trailers that use a lot of footage from the previous films, but that trailer is tricky because it seems to have animated elements that aren't from the films or even the Animator Expo series. In fact, a lot of it seems to be parts of Sadamoto's manga that were somehow animated, and I don't recall that animation ever being produced of any previous Khara or Gainax production.

But yeah, it's fake. Best to Wait And See™.

Ya weather or not anything happens, I enjoy having something to get hyped for. I have no reason to be disappointed if nothing happens, but it's cool to speculate and have a reason to be here lol.

This particular thread hasn't been bad (so far...), but the trend toward "entitled whining" is a real one, even if it's just a small handful of people ruining it for everyone.

As for that post I made over a year ago, that must've taken a small amount of digging to find. Who knows I really haven't been active since the end of 2015 so...

To explain, that was a completely different "debate" that I never did receive a reply from the ones I disagreed with(being Ray and Roseakahara). Although come to think of it, I believe these two have "whined" about Final taking so long to come out, so I'm wrong here. They'd whine about Final and manga artists "becoming more lazy" so.

To admit, I'm certainly guilty of "whining" about the wait for Final in the past, however now I'll just be happy and excited when we finally see the hype train get started. If April 1st is our first look at 3.0+1.0 since 3.0 came out , then I'll be as happy and hyped as everyone else here will be, but certainly not expecting it.

"What's with all the...?" sounds like you're asking about why people are doing something that you acknowledge is actively happening. "Where is all this...?" would have been better.

I found your old post purely by happenstance. It was one of the first things that came up when I searched for "entitled final".

True entitlement won't start in the fanbase until after Final comes out and individuals watch and hate Final for it not conforming to their preconceived notion.
