Any clue as how a westerner can obtain a physical copy of this in english?
Would prefer unedited but if I can only get the all-ages I'd be down.

Read the synopsis on the wiki and damn.

There are no physical copies in English. The only way to get one would be to print it and bind it yourself.

It has been a while since I read this, but did anyone else find it weird when Shinji got a mentally disabled (for lack of a better term) Asuka pregnant in that other life he saw or whatever it was?

There was a whole discussion on this very topic a while back that got graveyarded when I was still a lurker.

Among the people who use the Internet, many are obtuse. Because they are locked in their rooms, they hang on to that vision which is spreading across the world. But this does not go beyond mere ‘data’. Data without analysis [thinking], which makes you think that you know everything. This complacency is nothing but a trap. Moreover, the sense of values that counters this notion is paralyzed by it.

And so we arrive at demagogy. - Hideaki Anno, 1996

I read Re-Take once and all I remember is that it has a couple of cute images and makes absolutely no sense. It legitimately made me wonder if some works are simply beyond translation and my mindset cannot grasp its meaning.

I mean I like the meta idea of Asuka from the original timeline haunting Shinji or something but the rest of it is pure what the fuck.

Knowing Chuckman, it was probably the porn version.

Thanks for the link. I can see why it got graveyarded, but I'm glad someone brought it up before. It was a very odd thing to read near the ending since it was kinda silly, even if it was a dream.

All Ages 1 fuses up Retake 1 and part of 2 and All Ages 2 fuses up 2 and 3; there will of course be an All ages 3 because Retake 4 is really Massive.

RE-TAKE copies Sadamoto's Manga

Has anyone else noticed that "Re-Take" blatantly copies (steals) from the NEG manga?

I noticed that ALL the scenes that was not character related were just Photoshop straight from Sadamoto's Manga. (Made two examples)

If you want to compare yourself, each picture has (Vol./Ch./Pg.) with Red highlighting the copied sections. (better quality)

I never read fan-fiction, it miss the point of the characters from source material. However, I looked into this one because from what I read here, it didn't add up.
1) The Eva units were well drawn  (that would require production value...for porn?)
2) That this gained enough popularity that it had an "All ages version" (Porn for all ages?)
3) The plot was good  (Porn with plot?)

Again, did anyone else noticed this?
 (Seriously, there's a shit ton more than just those two pages)

Nice spot, but sometimes doujin works do copy and paste shit from the actual manga series or other sources. Here's an example.

Sorry, no, not in the slightest. Kimi has a very distinctive own art style; eyes, hair, smiles, you name it. In general, he also tends to use... well, it's a bit hard to describe, not exactly "straight" lines, but some bits and pieces just look more "rectangular" or "pointy" than you would normally expect (Rei's or Asuka's hair are pretty good examples, I think). It's also a lot more streamlined.
Just compare it to his other stuff outside of eva fanwork and you can instantly tell it's by the same person.

Now don't get me wrong, I absolutely love his style. In fact, if they would ever be an animated RE-TAKE, I'd much rather have it in his style than Sadamoto's - it just wouldn't "fit" otherwise.

If you want doujin-work pretty close to Sadamoto, see TnT (lineart at least, toning not so much).

View Original PostKiller Bee wrote:You mean like they traced it or something? I didn't notice. I'm sure they looked at the manga for reference all the time to get the style right, so it's no surprise there are similarities.

I'm happy that i'm not the only one that noticed...

However; after reviewing this thread in it's entirety, only the three users above seemed to have noticed...I find this ratio disturbing.

So, I finally got around to reading Re-Take. Read 1, 1.5, 2, 3, 0, 4, and After.

Not gonna lie, I found parts of it hard to take seriously, and some parts of it incomprehensible.

Generally speaking, I found the early volumes more interesting, and overall was a little underwhelmed by it for how highly people speak of it.

Going to read the All Ages version tomorrow, and then do some supplementary reading about it, to better process the whole thing.

I read retake and I didn't mind it I thought it was an interesting take despite some of the out of character moments, saying that though I didn't like Asuka's pregnancy story don't get me wrong I get why the creator did it and the place it plays later in the story but despite this I'm not of fan of Asuka get pregnant hence forcing a change in her behaviour as with the kind of emotional baggage she has in my view a child will not fix this. I'm not saying she shouldn't have kids in stories but I think you do need to fix a lot of that baggage before she gets to that point in her life and retake to me just doesn't do enough.

I believe that Re-Take has the implication that Asuka developed as a better person in that new timeline, considering that the post-3I Shinji was able to help with her insecurities, trauma, etc. after understanding what she had gone through via Instrumentality.

Her emotional baggage wouldn't be fixed by having the child, but she was put in enough shock after finding out the one person who cared about her the most might die at anytime. Plus, it was an accident because the two apparently never heard of using a condom or other preventive techniques, so that was also a bit of a shock.

What I'm trying to explain (sorry, I'm currently crashing from lots of espresso, so I apologize if this isn't written very clearly) is that Asuka grows through Shinji's help, accidently gets pregnant, thinks she might lose him, clings onto who matters to her most.

If you use teh :google: , there's Chinese scanlations of RE-TAKE 改 . Despite being a fan of the original, I wasn't impressed :uhh: I know R-18 and gore is par the course for the majority of that Circle's works, but still...? I felt given how nicely All Ages was done, there's no reason Studio Kimigabuchi couldn't have made some All Ages style-sequel instead of going with the lowest common denominator (so to speak). What plot was there seemed like somewhat of a mindfuck, but I just couldn't get interested.

I think it took place with the "alternate world" Asuka and Shinji, now in high school. I guess we'll see where this goes, assuming there's more volumes on the way.
