Convention General Thread

Yeah. You read right. This is for everything that doesn't have anything to do with Eva.

Doubtful but is anyone from the UK side of EvaGeeks going to AlCon in Leicester in September? I'll be doing my Shinji and a GenderBend Asuka cosplay there.

Hey folks! I've got a bunch of fan conventions I'll be at this April, so if you live in or around the Mid-Atlantic Region, then there’s at least one event coming up for you to look into. I always enjoy meeting new people in the fandom. So come say hello. Just don’t be weird, okay? Or at least... no weirder than I am.

I know realise that most of my local cons have died.... and I have no idea where to go....

That said, if you want to look up what happens when stupidity meets hubris, I give you Gamercon

This thing made Dashcon seem tolerable - because at least Dashcon wasn't overcrowded. It was a five hour line..... to get in to another 2 hour line...... to get asked to leave. Which went bork before paying everyone's tickets back.

Anyone at Worldcon 17 in Finland right now? (I am.)

Any chance you'd ever come to Illinois and do some of these panels at Acen, EvaMonkey? I'd love to see some of them. Or do you mostly just kick it out east? (I haven't traveled in about a decade, so I couldn't blame ya.)

It's one of my goals to go to Otakon though, maybe in 2019 or so. Would have to figure out booking hotels and all that jazz.
I used to work in a factory and I was really happy because I could daydream all day -- I.C.
And thanks to EVA, I've started like myself and that has made me very happy. Mr. Anno, please keep working on EVA a lot more.
and thank you so much for everything!!

I've actually been to Anime Central twice now! I went on a road trip to ACEN in 2005 and in 2010. It is however an awfully long trip, so it doesn't happen very often. Lately, I've had to be a bit more frugal about my con-going, so I generally try to keep it local, which is fine, because there are a ridiculous number of events in my area. Sometimes you even have to pick between multiple events! Otakon, BronyCon, and Super Smash Con were all the same weekend this year!

I don't have any plans to go to ACEN any time soon, unfortunately. The illustrious Carl Horn often presents an Evangelion panel at ACEN. Chances are good you've seen him, but if you haven't, definitely stop into his Eva panel sometime.

If nothing else, I imagine he'd sign copies of the manga for those interested. For someone in the area, probably worth the trip.

Encountered one of you here cosplaying as either Mari or Shinji at NYCC, was roaming around drunk on rusty nails in a Char Aznable (Zeta, saw you admiring the sleevless turtleneck) cosplay after the Hiro Mashima event on Friday, so I imagine my breath must have smelled of Drambuie and Altoids. I vaguely remember that you're good people, and we got to talking about Evageeks. Stay frosty, and the phone number I got from you either has an 8 or a 0 as the last digit. Didn't want to be sending some lewds to a rando. PM me. ^_^

I was at NYCC yesterday, didn't really see anyone doin' Eva cosplay (sadly), and the only Eva merch aside from an awesome print I got were $75 model kits. RIP.

Well, I just got a Sunday ticket for Anime NYC -- that's in November. Hope to see one of you guys there!

I'll be sure to check out the Puerto Rico Comic Con as I usually do, especially since the first announced guest is none other than John Barrowman! Wonder if I should dig up my old copy of Shark Attack 3 so he could autograph it and have him recite for me the infamous ad-lib.

Anyone know who the guests are gonna be for Anime Central and Anime Midwest? I went to ACen 3 years ago and I got autographs from the Viz dub cast of Sailor Moon. Also, I went to a small convention last October called Counticon and I met Jennifer Cihi the singer who sang a bunch of songs in the original dub of Sailor Moon.
"Winds in the east, Mist coming in, Like something is brewing, About to begin. Can't put my finger on, What lies in store, But, I feel what's to happen, All happened before..." From Mary Poppins
"For Love and Justice, I'm the pretty sailor suited soldier, Sailor Moon! In the name of the Moon, I will punish you!" Sailor Moon
"Anta Baka?!" Asuka Langley Soryu
"We fall in love, our hearts may break, we lose sleep longing for someone, but that's how we know we're alive." Usagi Tsukino from the Sailor Moon S movie.
"I'm not a nerd, I'm a specialist!!" Sousuke Sagara from Full Metal Panic.

Just found out that Yuriko Yamaguchi, who is the voice of Ritsuko Akagi will be attending Universal FanCon in Baltimore this April.

I'm going to have to see what I can do to swing an interview.

Found out today the great news that David Yost (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers' Billy the original Blue Ranger) will be attending Puerto Rico Comic Con! Somehow in my heart and feelings, I suspected that he was going to be there. I guess I shall skip going for John Barrowman (his prices for Photo Op and Autograph are too expensive for me anyway) and go instead and meet one of the OG Rangers.
