Hehe, I tried, but she seems to be ignoring me now. From now on I'll be "that weird guy who likes that f'ed up show" to her. :D

Yeah, really. If I can watch 40-Year Old Virgin and Mulholland Drive (Naomi Watts + Laura Harring = lesbian awesomeness) with them, then NGE is no big deal...

Well I finished showing her the series + EOE and... her face was priceless!!!!!
She was like ok... wtf? But I'm surprised she understood what was going on. I had to help her a little here and there, but she pretty much hit the nail.

That's just so damn awkward...
Actually, it appears most females don't understand what's going on the first time they see that scene.

I truthfully knew about SFAiB before I ever saw NGE because people talk about it so much. It was probably one of the first spoilers I accidentally saw before I should have, the second being that there are multiple Reis.

That female not understanding comment is sorta true. One of my friends (who is a female) who watched it saw it and thought I was joking around at first told her what Shinji did. ALL the other girls there got it immeditaley (all two of them)

You seemed to have watched EoE with at least a quasi-large group of people; where did you see it?

I first watched EoE by myself, in my room, at 9 AM, with my bed pants, shirt and housecoat still on. Bright sunny morning. Kind of an off way to see it, but for me, it was perfect, for whatever reason.
He was warrior and mystic, ogre and saint, the fox and the innocent, chivalrous, ruthless, less than a god, more than a man. There is no measuring Muad'Dib's motives by ordinary standards. In the moment of his triumph, he saw the death prepared for him, yet he accepted the treachery. Can you say he did this out of a sense of justice? Whose justice, then? Remember, we speak now of the Muad'Dib who ordered battle drums made from his enemies' skins, the Muad'Dib who denied the conventions of his ducal past with a wave of the hand, saying merely: "I am the Kwisatz Haderach. That is reason enough."

...College dorm with the rest of my nerd friends. My friend rounded up a bunch of Eva Virgins (mainly because his Girlfriend is an anime nut), and in the course of a weekend showed them everything. btw Him and me where the only guys there, the other two as stated before where friends of his that had seen the series but hadn't seen EoE...btw agiann he and me had seen EoE only once before and we're looking for an excuse to see it agian.
I won.

With SFAiBL, I first heard about it from teh EvaOtaku FAQs (I researched the hell outta Eva (including Spoiling myself with finding out the whole story in my research ^^; ) so I could know what to expect when watching it.) and that didn't bother me too much (I'm a girl, AND I can be pretty sick-minded at times. I visit THAT BOARD and have lately been writing romantic H fanfics, for God's sake) it just made me think that a character MUST have really hit rock-bottom to do that!

The only thing that upset me in my research (mostly visiting various informative fansites) was EvaOtaku's (false) POV on Shinji's accepting Instrumentality at the end of EoTV in contrast to his rejecting it in EoE. "WHAT?! What the hell kind of a story is this that the narrative direction is completely opposite with the final episode and the movie?! That's bullshit! What kind of a message is that to the viewers!" and so on and so forth. Luckily I somehow or another stumbled across MDWigs' site (I wish I could speak with him just once, he sounds awesome! ;_; ) and became "enlightened". ^_^;

Any dang way, I think at some point or another I might get my Stepsister to watch at least Death & [EoTV and] EoE with me once Renewal comes out. She likes and has seen a few anime out there, so it'd be nice to see her "WTF" reaction. ^_^;

I know it's over, but I'm still going to give my opinion on how to prep. people for eva.

First when they ask to watch it or if I tell them to watch it I normally tell them that it will make them think and they most likely won't get it their first time around.

After about 13 episodes I stop for a break and ask them if they have any questions. If so I either answer it or come here and find one (even after six times I still don't know everything).

when the last 2 episodes come up I tell em that they need to actually pay attention and know what is going on, also like before see if they are confused at all. I also say they most likely won't enjoy the real ending their first time around.

Now when the series is out of the way I think it's time for EoE, I tell them to prepare for the worst and say this is where everything you know and love about the series will come crashing down in a heartbeat, but it will still be an enjoyable experience.

Also glad your cousin got through it ok...

Question: Take a break between 26 and EoE or no?
This post did not suck.

Ritsuko Akagi, the truth is... I had sex with your mom.
Yup.

I'd say yes, take a break and watch EoE another day. Let the "happy" feeling of the TV ending sink in, then destroy it a week later with EoE.

Ohoh, brings back memories. End of Evangelion was what acutally made me an NGE fan. First time I watched it i borrowed the series DVDs from a friend (crappy bootlegs, but what the hell...). Thought it was all right, nice and cute ending. Then a month later or so I bought D&R and EoE, and Jesus fucking Christ! I watched it pretty early in the day and afterwards I felt depressed the whole day. ;_; Couldn't bring myself to do anything else that day.
Can't remember last time a movie had such an impact on me.

NGE, N. G. E., N. G. Evangelion, Neon Genesis Evangelion.

NOT Eva or EVA. Please. >_<
