Sigils of the great houses, reimagined as Pokemon. The Martell one is probably my favorite, on account on its cleverness.

Screenshot-based "abridged versions" of various episodes by a certain Chrys. Love her sense of humor and devoured them all; heartily recommended. Only real downsides are that she skips over the "controversial" scenes (i.e. the ones that made social media froth at the mouth), and that there isn't a treatment for every episode (yet?).

607 comments and speculah  SPOILER: Show
I thought last episode ("Broken Man") was really strong up until the end. The stuff with Arya just didn't work for me. There was this odd sense that there's more going on that it seems, but if that's so then it still could have been executed a lot better. Also, both introducing and murdering Brother Ray in the same episode feels like yet another case of the show blowing its load prematurely. Quite a narratively weak decision.

So, this season has actually been teasing Lady Stoneheart for real, hasn't it?

- Cat getting throat slashed was inserted in Bran's "burn them all!" vision montage.
- Walder Frey reminds us of how Cat died.
- Walder's sons remind us and Blackfish of how Cat died, down to threatening Edmure with the same knife.
- Brotherhood Without Banners are clearly under different management now.

Is it just a case of "trolling intensifies", or are D&D actually going to give us Zombie Cat at such a late hour?

There's going to be a riot or something if Nymeria doesn't show up soon.

Those are wonderful. I don't mind skipping some scenes; commentary over a child being burned as a sacrifice would probably be in bad taste anyway.

Also, the dragons are a cut above. Weapons grade snark in those puppies.

SPOILER: Show
Robert Strong ripping that guy's head off was fucking amazing. I also love that it probably sealed the deal with the trial by combat thing. You overplayed your hand, Cersei.

Arya's resolution was great. People are complaining but I love it that Arya defeated a Faceless (Wo)man in the vein of Arnie in Predator, using the blood streaks to lure her to a place where she could even the odds.

The Riverrun thing feels kinda filler-y but I think it goes with all the efforts the Starks are making to gather an army fail, and the Blackfish was so cool that it didn't matter that it didn't really go anywhere.

I've just accepted that Jaime is completely lacking his book development now.

The Hound was the best part. Apparently he's going north, so reunion with Sansa? Squee? Squeeeeee?

...Who?

Arya's resolution was great.

Her getting caught off guard and stabbed in the first place was insipidly stupid (especially because they seemed to have her intentionally act in a way that would draw the Waif out right beforehand). I also don't really care how good Lady Crane is at sewing her boyfriends shut; Arya was stabbed in the gut and fell into a filthy river, there's nothing you can do for that other than die slowly of sepsis. Just so many terrible and unnecessary decisions. The outcome could have been the same, but the build-up a hell of a lot smarter.

Blackfish was so cool that it didn't matter that it didn't really go anywhere.

Hooray for anticlimactic off-screen deaths.

Well, I'm sort of glad the LSH stuff ended up being just more trolling (but that leaves us to ask if there's any actual in-universe reason to draw so much attention to Cat at this particular time). Beric's still kickin', which is fine, since I like Beric and who doesn't. But to introduce Lem just for him to have gone full asshole of his own accord? Alrighty then. I was also sort of expecting Sandor to loot Lem's body for Ray's necklace and shrug off any suspicions of sentiment by saying, "Fuck the gods. It's good silver" or something.

This was a pretty disappointing episode IMHO. King's Landing part was fine, and the BwB showing up again was nice, but everything else was pretty bleh if not terrible (hello Mereen).

Have you ever seen it? It's a deeply flawed production, to be sure, but there are also a lot of good things about it.

I'm afraid not as I don't even have access to cable tv, let alone HBO. I've heard of the show through reputation, and what I've heard doesn't make me feel at ease.

Battle Of The Bastards  SPOILER: Show
Karma finally caught up with Ramsey Goddamn Bolton.

Should've listened to your daddy Ramsey.

The battle for this episode was awesome. Best Medieval battle I've seen outside of the movies.

If there is one thing that kind of bugs me about this episode it's that yes Ramsey got his comeuppance it's still kind of disproportionate. I mean this is a guy who's done irredeemable s*** . He brainwashed and castrated the heir to the iron Islands, raped God knows how many women before Sansa, committed matricide, patricide, and fratricide.

I guess really any kind of punishment after all he's done is kind of disproportionate by by comparison.

That episode was awesome. I was stoked throughout. Some really effective and moving moments, too, that has my eyes watering up. I definitely need to rewatch this evening so I can more fully absorb everything.

SPOILER: Show
The one thing I felt extremely unenthusiastic about was Septa Unella's fate, heavily implied to be repeated torture and rape from the loving ministrations of Zombie Gregor. I suppose such a thing would be in-character for Cersei, who, despite having no apparent love for institutionalized misogyny in the world she's a part of, has also shown herself unwilling to give any fucks about women other than herself... if what I've heard about her relationship with Qyburn in the books is any indication. So it wouldn't be entirely fair to just groan "Goddamnit, D&D!" here, would it? If they wanted to hype me up for Cersei getting her comeuppance, well, they certainly accomplished that much. What a disgusting, spiteful bitch.

I dunno. I haven't seen much of the show, but from what I saw in last season's finale Cersei certainly has a legitimate gripe. "Shame, shame, shame" indeed.

As for the rest: I think of the last two episodes as somewhat of a set, since Battle of the Bastards seems to be the actual climax of the season whereas the finale is more denoument than anything else. And, with that in mind, dragons! Jon fighting! Ramsey pounded into the dirt! Sansa getting her vengeance! Ramsey being murdered like the vicious little fuck he is! The sins of the Red Wedding coming home to roost! Kings and queens aplenty! And man, that's a lot of boats.

I picture next season being Daenerys taking the war for the throne to Cersei while Jon sits about in Winterfell waiting for the real fight to start, before he and Daenerys have an awkward meeting consisting mostly of "gee, you seem like a good sort, I'd really rather not fight you. How about we get hitched, leave the iron throne business until later, and go fight some zombies?" That's probably far too simplistic for this show, but given the way things are heading at the end of that last episode, well . . .
