The manga is amazing, but the movie is only ok... at least thats my thoughts on it.

Yes, the manga is exceptionally good (in my top 5, i'd say), but the movie is just as fantastic. I'm a pretty big Katsuhiro Otomo fan in general, but Akira blows all his other stuff away. It's one of those works that just makes your head spin: frighteningly intense, physchological rape-inducing, action-packed goodness. Fantastic stuff...
