To be fair fans did that even with the first anime, but at least in that the argument could always be made that the characters were entertaining.
Cant even say that about crystal.

3 weeks away, so I guess we'll find out the news soon. As far as seiyuu go, Saturn's original one is currently in DB Super. I forget what Ogata and the rest are up to. Yes I want them to return, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Character designs from Animedia magazine 2016 issue 2. Definitely an improvement though it's a black and white image:

I just watched the first episode of season 3 (am i the only one?) and..... it was actually good! The animation and pace were top notch. It doesn't feel that the show has a poor production value anymore. Maybe the fact that it's now a weekly anime helped a lot. I don't know if it's because my expectations were so low but after seeing the first episode i can't say i am not excited for this season.

I watched it too. I tuned in out of morbid curiosity, but ended up being pleasantly surprised.
Sailor Moon Crystal Season 3 is a LOT better than the previous seasons. Those were a train wreck, this one actually understands why the original series was so beloved in the first place. We get banter between the characters, they opted for designs, which are at least animatable when they try. And the transformation sequences are actually nice callbacks to the original series, ditching the cringy CG transformations completely.
Funny trivia, apparently Chiaki Kon the directress, of Higurashi fame only agreed directing, when she was allowed to make the transformation sequences 2D again. :D
The intro is less bombastic than the old one, but it’s written by my love Etsuko Yakushimaru (Mawaru Penguindrum OP, Arakawa OP, Tatami Galaxy ED). And it’s lovely. She didn’t really put out music since the Space Dandy ED (apart from one mediocre song with Soutaiseirion), so I’m happy to hear her smooth voice again. The song writing is nice as well. So even if this season falls apart, (after all the first batch of Episodes looked also fine in the beginning), at least I have a new Yakushimaru song.

Yeah, I saw some of the Season 3 transformation sequences and they look much better without the ridiculous CG. The character designs also seem to have improved. If the storyline is also getting better I might consider picking up the series again.

Well, they're finally doing something right with Crystal. I miss the old character designs, but I've adjusted to the new ones. Still bummed that Megumi Ogata never returned but the new ending is nice.

I watched a fair amount too, especially from the second season. It's nice that things started to get better in time for my favorite arc ^_^ .

First Arc Blu Ray/DVD Set coming Aug. 16, is it me or does Usagi's English dub rendering here compared to the original series come off as more mature?
